I tried this on another forum, but got nowhere.

Here's the scoop, you choose a Canadian political party from a list, play it's leader (it can be fictional) and play it through events that I will prepare such as scandals, debates, international policy, ads, etc. On election night I'll give the seat standings.

Parties:

You may play the following parties:

New Democratic
Liberal
Bloc Quebecois
Green Party
Conservative
Other parties run through me please.

Where would this be happening, just on this board?

Can you go a bit more into detail about how the game will work?

I might consider it if I could lead the New Apathetic Party, but probably not.

That's all very well, but what about the Rhinoceros Party, the Absolutely Absurd party or the Neo Rhino party?

So long as we're being ridiculous, I would request the Animal Alliance Environment Voters Party of Canada.

Liberals or Tories...if someone really wants to be the one as opposed to the other...let them get the first pick of the two

I'll be the Liberals if the Rhino Party isn't allowed.

But it better be allowed. Sad

This is going to be the best election ever.

I actually think it would be hilarious glee if we did away with all the established parties for the purposes of this game... so the established parties are like the Greens and the Canadian Heritage Party.  And the others are all arranged somewhat proportionally from there.

Thats fine with me Gabu...I'm either destined to be a conservative Liberal, or a liberal Tory.

I might be interested in being NDP or a Liberal party that has turned into more of a social democratic party (I'd prefer the first, but the latter would be interesting as well).

Correct

I would like the NDP if possible. If you're giving that to Al, I would like to be the Green Party and run *it* into irrelevance Cheesy

I'll take the Greens or Bloc Quebecois since no one seems to have love either for seperatist Quebeckers or the pseudo-libertarian Greens.

Actually, Colin, I like the Canadian Greens.  I wouldn't call them pseudo-libertarians, it just is that they aren't the socialists in green clothing that the U.S. greens are.  I'll be willing to take the Greens and not to make them irrelevant as Earl fantasizes.

Actually that was what I was going to do to tell you the truth. I know they aren't the Satanists that Earl makes them out to be and I'm always in favour of an underdog. But if you want to take them I would be happy playing as the Bloc though my French is very poor at the moment. Wink

There's an obvious joke to make here, but I like the NDP too much to make it Wink

So, just a recap, giving everyone what will accomodate the most people:

Liberal - Al
Conservative - bullmoose88
NDP - EarlAW
Bloc Quebecois - Bacon King (he called it first; check the first page)
Green - ?
Rhino - me
First Peoples National - Lewis
Animal Alliance Environment Voters - ilikeverin

Unfortunately, there seems to be a problem in that two people want the Green Party.  Maybe a primary is in order? Wink

Well it's up to Ernest if he really wants to play he can. However I do want to be in on this and I was the first person to request the Green Party.

Can I bring back the Reform Party? Wink

If you do, you have to be like Preston Manning.

Wow. Tons of answers! Thanks. Gabu's list is very good, i'll stick with that. We got the 4 biggies covered. For the Greens- either Colin or Ernest should "give it up" and go with another party. Try not to dig up old parties too much, unless its necessary. Once we have the sign up in order, I'll post more detailed instructions and request from you such info as a detailed post on number of candidates (and how many candidates in each province) and leader info.

Remember- those with a third party- don't expect to all of a sudden jump. This will be like real Canadian politics, the AAEVP won't jump to first, neither will the FPNP. Unless you have a good case, you won't be in the debates. Sorry Tongue

Conservative - bullmoose88

Bloc Quebecois - Bacon King
