NUUK, 28 APRIL 2023

Senator Laki, the chair of Peace, traveled to Nuuk, the capital of Greenland, to campaign for the Inuit Ataqatigiit party (IA). During the visit, the senator held a rally and made several campaign visits to meet with IA supporters.

Senator Laki emphasized the idea of an independent Greenland, while stressing the importance of maintaining a strong cooperation with the Republic of Atlasia for defense purposes. As a non-interventionist and pacifist party, the Peace Party believes that preserving unique cultures and national identities is crucial. Therefore, returning to Denmark should not be an option for Greenland, but they should remain cautious of losing their autonomy and rights under the current relationship with the Republic. The senator also highlighted the potential loss of income from relinquishing ownership of Greenland's valuable natural resources and land.

In addition to promoting independence, Senator Laki campaigned for left-wing ideals, advocating for the equitable distribution of wealth generated from Greenland's industries to ensure the prosperity of all Greenlanders. The senator also emphasized the importance of investing in education and protecting the environment. Greenland is one of the last remaining unpolluted places on earth, and it is essential to maintain its pristine condition.

During the visit, Senator Laki recommended that Greenlanders vote for the Inuit Ataqatigiit party, as the party aligned with the Peace Party's values and ideals. The senator urged supporters to rally behind the Inuit Ataqatigiit, emphasizing the importance of their vote in shaping the future of Greenland.

Advocating for Greenlandic policy directly makes me uneasy as we are outsiders to the country since I believe it should be their choice but I am open to the idea of a compact of free association with them + allowing them to vote federally if they choose that route, which would entail them not being added to any region specifically.
