Basically what it says in the title

This person has progressive viewpoints on virtually every major issue (economically left-wing and populist, socially progressive, culturally liberal, and dovish), but they always vote for Republican presidents. Who would this voter be, and why would they vote the way they do?

I can think of four types.

1. The Neoliberal/Clinton Hater:  Someone that despises Third Way politics and/or the legacy of Bill Clinton enough to vote Republican out of spite.

2. The S*mp to a Conservative: Votes the way they do to please their far-right or conservative SO.

3. The Accelerationist: Actually thinks voting the opposite way, or ironically, hoping the entire country bottoms out from Republican policy and will just see the light inherently.

4. The Opportunist: Self-explanatory.

Sounds about right, tbh I think there’s probably more people like this still around then there are ancestral southern Democrats at this point. The fact that Baker and Scott were able to clinch the nomination suggests to me that there’s still a lot of old school moderates that are a part of the Republican primary electorate because in most other states there’s no way in hell they’d get even close to the nomination.

A progressive from 1992 would probably be on the conservative side of social policy by today's standards, but would still vote for Clinton in 1992 or 1996.

Bush W. only if they got caught by patriotic fibbers in 2004, and McCain and Romney only if they were really racist.

So I can say there aren't any, so you can't describe them.
