Did you know that this guy, "John Anthony Castro", has transferred 60 million $ to his campaign account and is leading the cash on hand race for 2024 among all candidates that's filed with the FEC?

https://www.fec.gov/data/elections/president/2024/

Second is Sen. Tim Scott from SC with 22 million $ cash on hand in late March, but he's not in yet and has just filed an exploration committee.

Trump is third with 14 million $ cash on hand in March.

So, who is this Castro guy and should we take him seriously? He filed a lawsuit against Trump, he has a software company that's doing well, he's wealthy, but obviously will go nowhere. Or am I wrong?

He's a little-known tax consultant who moonlights as a perennial candidate.

However the astronomical sum of $60M COH doesn't square with a moderately successful company (valuated at $180M). Could it be a typo from the FEC?

I don't think it's a typo by the FEC: he transferred 3x20 million $ to his campaign account during the past year.

I knew he was running, though I didn't know he had that kind of money. Regardless, Michael Bloomberg was a bigger name in 2020 in an open Democratic field, and all his money amounted to a victory in just American Samoa.

Castro might have decent money, but it's personally hard for me to imagine a situation in which it matters, as Biden to have an easy time getting the nomination again (barring health issues, of course).

Well, that's more money than the other J. Castro of Texas to run for President recently had.
