Holy crap...Ieyoub died just today two days after your post.

Anyway, in a gubernatorial election between two second-generation immigrants, I think Jindal might've had a better chance as I don't think Ieyoub was perceived as being as moderate as Blanco.

Leach would've been Jindal's best hope of winning the runoff that year.

Had a white liberal been the Democratic nominee instead of Blanco, that candidate would have won LaSallle. Ieyoub or Leach would have beaten Jindal in LaSalle because of racial polarization.
