So everyone, this is a more minor project for Talk Elections that has been cooking in my mind for a bit : What if William Randolph Hearst had won the 1905 New York City Mayoral Election, won re-election in 1909, and then was elected as NY Gov in 1914, winning re-election in 1916 but not running in 1918 to run for President in 1920. He then returns to the Gov Mansion in 1922 but doesn't run again in 1924, allowing for 1 term Governor Al Smith to return to that office. In 1926, he's elected to the Senate and serves there from 1926 to 1932. In 1932, after six attempts (1904, 1908, 1912, 1920, 1924, 1928), he's finally Nominated by the Democrats for President at the age of 69. With little else outside of his political career changed (and FDR losing the 1928 NY Gubernatorial Election), this leaves a very unique position for the Nominated Hearst to have as he becomes President in an early that will lead to a different Fifth Party System, different World War 2, and most importantly, a different 20th Century as a whole.
