I don't feel that strongly about these particular charges, considering it's minor compared to many of the other crimes Trump has committed, but it is nice to see a prosecutor who seemingly isn't scared to do his job because of "not wanting to divide the country" or some other similar nonsense. Impunity for corrupt and criminal government officials going back to the Nixon pardon has been inexcusable.

Trump spent all this time hyping up the New York case and it's probably more likely at this point that Fulton County indicts first.

People are over the Stormy Daniels bulls**t and have been since 2018. This is ridiculous.

Good thing the justice system doesn’t make decisions based on what people are “over” or not.

We have for decades :

Nixon
Clinton
Wall Street Bakers
People behind GITMO

Etc

Are you really suggesting that is a good thing?

Democrats want to run against Trump . Republican voters : You need to vote for DeSantis to ensure democrats don’t get what they want from this witch-hunt

I'd very much like Republicans to nominate someone other than those two, considering they are both horrifying options.

Nixon should not have gone to jail for Watergate , Clinton should not have for perjury and nobody in the Bush admin should have .

A bold stance in favor of elite impunity. Hell of a populism you've got there.

Sorry to disappoint you OSR, but presidents are not god kings who answer to nobody.

We are a nation of laws, whether you like it or not.

Should Clinton have gone to prison for perjury then . This is literally the equivalent of that and the answer is obviously Clinton should not have .

Breaking decades of precedent over this is beyond moronic

Bold of you to assume anyone in 2023 is going to bother defending Bill Clinton.

This should tell us what the GOP Establishment is thinking. If they're not simply saying "the legal process should continue as followed" then they're not subtly telling people to support somebody else. That's more bad news for DeSantis.

But there should be more indictments for the more serious crimes, so I guess we'll see. When this is over we'll probably have triple-digit charges.

McCarthy is the GOP establishment?  He is Trump's boy...we'll see what other Republicans in Congress say.  I doubt McConnell or most Senate Republicans will come to a full-throated defense of Trump, for example.

Trump is the GOP establishment.

If you have any doubts about whether it's a good idea for Trump to be indicted, please consider the utter hilarity of Donald Trump being under a gag order: https://www.businessinsider.com/gag-order-donald-trump-extremely-likely-indictment-manhattan-2023-3

We may not even get to see the mugshot, depending on how the negotiations with Trump’s lawyers go. Sad

How in the world is that up for negotiation with Trump's lawyers in the first place?

When ordinary people are arrested, there is no negotiation.

"Oh, but I don't want to have a mug shot officer, what if I..."
Its a non-violent white collar crime. Anyone can negotiate if they have a good enough lawyer. Better yet, a team of lawyers.

Are there any good lawyers left who don't view Trump as a completely radioactive client at this point? I feel like I've seen the crime-fraud exception get invoked more with Trump than in all other criminal cases I have ever paid attention to combined.

Let me clearify "good". Reputable? Probably not. But if you charge enough fees and have a fancy enough office, you can negiotate with the DA

Okay, that's fair.

The air feels fresher today. The grass looks greener, the sky is bluer. It's a good day.

As much as I'm enjoying Trump being charged today, I will just state for the record, I don't *really* care all that much about this case: Fulton County is the one that is going to matter the most in the end.

Is anyone listening to the Orange Buffoonery coming out of this Clown right now?
It's about Hunter Biden, and other BS.
"Millions of votes were stuffed in ballot boxes" according to this Idiot.
Just wow.

My local NBC station had it on for probably not even five minutes and then went back to regular programming, which seems fair
