I mean yeah, that’s more likely the longer it gets. But nowhere near two days.

My point exactly- they're getting a little ahead of their skis after one 4-hour day

Sounds like they want 45 minutes of the instructions read back to them and like 20-30 minutes of testimony.

Is it strictly *against* NY law to give them a copy of the instructions or just not typically done? Just insane that he has to spend another 45 mins on this when he could just give them a packet.

It's probably not a good idea to read too much into stuff like this, but this is not something I'd expect from a jury that's heading to hang.

I think the defendant has to consent for them to have that. I think it's the law.

Yeah, could be wrong, but it feels like a lot of this is them possibly wanting to cross all the t's and dotting the i's given the huge decision

Kyle Cheney on Twitter said the same.  The judge can give them a written copy unless Trump objects.

Merchan is going over the instructions now, should take about 30 mins. They wanted to hear instructions first and then go back over the testimony.

More on that part about the instructions they wanted to hear specifically: The jury specifically asked in its note for the judge to repeat his instructions on what are called “evidentiary inferences” — that is, reasonable inferences that can be drawn from what they heard at trial.

The full instructions are here: https://www.nycourts.gov/LegacyPDFS/press/PDFs/People%20v.%20DJT%20Jury%20Instructions%20and%20Charges%20FINAL%205-23-24.pdf.  Merchan is re-reading pages 6 to 35 to the jury.

Not a lot to talk about. They’re going over the testimony, as requested yesterday. Then it’s back to deliberations.

Good or bad for Trump?

I’ve felt like most of the deliberations have seemed to be bad for Trump, especially the part about Peckers testimony. But this? I think this is good for Trump. On the whole I’d still say advantage prosecution if we are going off just the jury action in deliberations…but at the same time In not sure this case has been proven so in short no one knows anything and any of the 3 results could reasonably happen

Supposedly the jury asked for headphones for the computer to listen to Cohen’s conversation with Trump about Karen McDougal

I think instructions should be over by now and onto the testimony. I'd think they'd be back to deliberating by noon at the latest?

Yeah, they're into the testimony now.  Anna Bower (@AnnaBower on X) provides a really good play-by-play.

I read the portion of the instructions that the judge was reading, and was impressed by how clear and understandable they were.  This has been the case in most of the juries I've been on, but I do recall one (a civil trial in Florida) where some of the instructions were hard to follow.  There was one we just couldn't agree on in the jury room, so we sent a note to the judge saying it was confusing and asking him to clarify it.  We went back into the courtroom, and the judge, in an exasperated tone, said "The instruction is NOT confusing.  It's perfectly clear."  And then he repeated the instruction, enunciating each word slowly and carefully.  Which didn't help us much.

Michael Cohen’s testimony matches David Pecker’s account fairly closely. Pecker testified that he had said he would be Trump’s “eyes and ears” and watch out for negative stories. Cohen recalls him saying he would “keep an eye out for anything negative.”

They are on intent, which means they have already agreed that Trump had falsified business records.

I infer from this that there are no holdouts.

I hope that's enough to convict.
