I feel bad for the jury. It's a no win situation for them regardless of the outcome.

If they convict, MAGA people are gonna seek to dox them, etc.

If they acquit, same but from the far left.

If it's a hung jury, that person will likely become a social pariah for the rest of their life.

I think its more likely that person will likely become a MAGA mascot like Kyle Rittenhouse.

He will probably get book deals and gigs on Fox and other right-wing media.

You combine that with rumors of a Trump-friendly juror, and it's pretty obvious he's getting off here.

That's not obvious to me at all.

Outside of the MAGAsphere, Rittenhouse is reviled and a social pariah, though.

Given the politics of the current SCOTUS, what are the odds that they take up the case immediately, bypassing NY court of appeals, and overturn a conviction?

Low I think. I doubt they want to touch this at all or even take the case but it would go up through the chain first.

It's a no win for them too. Overturn it, and you might even see impeachments of the justices. Uphold it, you could see violence against them by MAGA supporters; Trump if he has access to social media would likely even courage it.

Please explain it to me, why they wouldn't take this up immediately?

If Trump is convicted and they consider the charges unconstitutional, they should immediately intervene to prevent election interference.

I think you have a loose grasp on how the court system works.

There is a possibility for them to intervene immediately.
Therefore, what I'm suggesting here is well within the notion of "how the court system works".

Ljube has gotten nearly every procedural thing about this trial wrong. It’s almost impressive.

I think people outside the magasphere and the resist-libsphere don’t really think about him tbh

Anyway, back to the actual trial, any word on what's going on in deliberations? Have there been any questions to the judge? Are they on lunch?

Well, no.  Even if he’s acquitted, you’ll still be wrong.  It’s a bit like how if someone asks “what’s 1+10” and you say “11 because 1+1+0=11,” you definitely don’t understand how math works despite the broken clock moment.

No questions yet, they're deliberating, not out at lunch. They can probably have bring or have lunch brought in, doesn't mean they have to stop deliberating necessarily.

BTW I don't think I saw it mentioned, but Trump is stuck in the courthouse while they jury deliberates. Because he has to be available immediately to be in the courtroom if they have a question or return a verdict.

There isn’t. You may be thinking of Trump’s federal court cases where SCOTUS was asked to step in to rule on a district court decision early, bypassing the court of appeals. But state court cases have to go to the state’s highest court before being appealed to SCOTUS.

I'm pretty sure he is only stuck in New York.
