I think we should just see how the trial goes before making any assumptions as to what the jury will do.

Fair enough. We do need to see how both the defense and prosecution go about their cases.

I will say, I think Trump is doing himself a disservice by being so confrontational and judgmental of the jury. If they were unbiased about him before...somehow, he certainly isn't making himself more sympathetic.

Oh, I certainly agree. I just think that each jury is its own thing within each trial and none of us will be in that deliberation room. Even when it comes to total deliberation time, many predictions end up dead wrong. Let's see if Trump changes his attitude once each side starts presenting its case. I highly doubt it, but we'll see.

As for any potential jury sequester, I imagine that's basically impossible now that the jury has been chosen. I don't know New York law, but it seems to me like you'd have to notify jurors in advance if there's a strong chance of them being sequestered. You can't just randomly decide to sequester the jury after they've been chosen or after arguments have started.

How long before he says he's cleverly pretending to sleep on purpose?

Are the prosecutors actually going to present any evidence that Trump did have an affair with Stormy Daniels?  I suppose the truth of this might not be legally decisive in this case, but Trump would look a lot more sympathetic if he were in fact being blackmailed over a false allegation.

Prosecution has done a good job so far. Defense has done a poor job. Jurors seem like they’re paying attention.

Not good news for Trump.

How? Did defense do anything besides opening statement? ... We had about only 90 minutes of witness questioning. Calm yourself

You must remember that this website features people who regularly call elections when there are three precincts reporting. Wink

You definitely can make that argument by the end of openings. The research is pretty consistent; between 80%-90% of jurors have made up their minds by the end of opening statements. The rest of the trial is a matter of not losing/empowering the jurors who are rooting for/against you. Its why jury selection and openings are ALWAYS called the most important parts of the trial by litigators. They're not as fun as crossing a party or closing arguments when you can go wild in what you're allowed to argue, but those parts only reinforce what is already built by opening.

The link you posted specifically says that statement is false:

Quote
In conclusion, the claim that 80% (or more) of jurors reach their decision after opening statements is false. This myth was miscited, unfortunately spread, and has persevered for decades. The real figure is likely closer to 30%.

In short, Dereich's opening statement was unconvincing. Wink

Lol, whoops. My bad. I didn't go through that one very well. I'll have to find the actual research again rather than the first google result.

I'd have to find the tweets but I'm pretty sure Trump's lawyer was dinged multiple times by the judge for saying things he shouldn't/things that aren't true.

They've also been violating the pre-arranged agreement of what would be allowed and what would not.

That’s their strategy. Their statements get stricken from the record, but the jurors can’t unhear them.
