Would Pence even agree to replace Trump on the ballot?

It sounds like in the final weeks of the campaign, he knew Trump was going to lose and was looking ahead to 2024. He wouldn't want a last-minute, failed 2020 effort to tank a hypothetical 2024 candidacy.

I agree. I think Mike Pence gets the 2016 map plus Nevada, New Mexico, New Hampshire, and Maine-AL. In the Senate, Raphael Warnock still wins narrowly in the runoff, but David Perdue, Mark Ronchetti, and John James narrowly pull through. Republicans also likely retake the House by a small margin as well.

I think quite a bit, it would have been seen as a national tragedy.

Plus Pence would have had enough credibility to win LBJ style, but with smaller margins.

Pence of course would have taken it as a sign from God and would probably do weird stuff during his term.
