No doubt they'll be more protests about this, assuming Sandu signs it:

"The Moldovan Parliament adopted a law recognizing the Moldovan language as Romanian"

Not sure this is the right timing for this.

NATO should deploy peacekeeping troops to Moldova to support the Moldovan security forces if these people become violent terrorists (likely based on history.)

Roll Eyes Most of the protesters are just pensioners who were bused in by an exiled fraudster. The Moldovan police have, so far, been able to arrest the real troublemakers. A big reason why the 2014 Russian-backed uprisings in the Donbass were successful was because the Ukrainian government didn't distinguish between the two groups, giving the uprising enough genuine popular support during the critical period.

I'm guessing that guy is the not-so-bright son of some mid-level Kremlin bureaucrat, who was given a mission in Moldova to avoid being sent as cannon fodder in the Donbass.

If it gets to the point where the Moldovan police are completely overwhelmed by Kremlin-backed "little green men", then a counter-coup by NATO or the Ukrainan army might be a necessary evil. Zelensky did hint that was on the table. But, that would be one step closer to a full-out regional war that no one wants. So, it's best to let the local police to do their job.

It would make more sense to expel the Russians from Transnistria outright, but baby steps I suppose:

US to help Moldova fight Russia's destabilization efforts

Quote
The United States will take a range of steps in response to Russian attempts to destabilize Moldova, including building on the information Moldovan government has and working with the U.S. Congress to provide Moldova an additional $300 million in energy assistance to address urgent needs because of the war in Ukraine.

Can I first just point out that using "Chisinau/Kishinev" is inclusive and I'm staggered that some progressives on here are using that as a canard. There are plenty of Russian and Ukrainian speakers who are not pro-Putin there!

In fact, calling the Transnistrian government pro-Russia doesn't cove the whole story. It's a strange entity in that it's a former army of the USSR "gone rogue" and using its de facto statehood mostly to launder money. It's more akin to a mafia state than the likes of Abkhazia, South Ossetia, etc...which irrespective of being sponsored by Russia (and also way more held on a leash by Putin as a result than Transnistria, for sure), Abkhazia and South Ossetia used to have autonomy and are genuine seperate nations.
