This story combines two detestable things: a woke teacher and Florida. The teacher should not be anywhere near children or a school.

As for Ron DeSantis, I hope that he eventually crashes and burn for wasting political capital on his stupid culture wars.

This exercise is CRT in practice.   A therapeutic role play based on CRT principles.

Don't believe that CRT isn't in public schools.   This is an example of how it gets in.

Are you for real? Are we really going to have a debate over segregation? Friendly reminder: It's 2023, not 1953.

Nope, and this is way worse than the "anti semitic" remarks that earned him the original 6 month ban.

I get your frustration, but there's no way this is the binary choice we have.
Divisiveness in regards to race-driven things of course can endanger stability in the country, but I refuse to believe the only choices available are a poop pie and a pee milkshake.
The reasonable people of this country will put a stop to this nonsense eventually.

Brown explicitly nullified the principle that "Separate, but Equal" in public accommodations is Constitutionally unacceptable.  Bronz's comment is, to be kind, a real head-scratcher.

Unfortunately, it's the FAR Left that seems to want to undermine this nowadays.  Separate dorms for minority students, safe spaces, separate graduations, etc., are all being put forth as proposals today.

"Separate, but equal" was put to rest by Brown.  The Far Left's attempts to undermine that in new ways is not "liberal" in the least.  And this teacher's ridiculous indoctrination stunt is not "liberal" in the least.

Can you give some examples of separate graduations and dorms?

That Brown v. Board was one of the biggest mistakes in American history.

Harvard.

NYU.

Stanford.

For dorms, we have Western Washington University.

You can't support Brown and sign off on these examples.

I think the point of the lesson wasn’t to take joy in white kids being “slaves” it was to  give a very brief demonstration on what it’s like to be on the receiving end of racism, discrimination, slavery, etc. and even this lesson was benign compared to what real black people have gone through for years.
~the whole Tik tok  thing seems a bit stupid, not sure why that was necessary, lol
But at the end of the day, I’m not sure showing upper middle class, Christian, privileged white kids what it’s like to be the victim of what minorities have experienced for centuries is necessarily a bad thing; they might grow up to be empathetic and caring and will be more willing to challenge a system that largely only works for straight, white Christian men (sadly even in 2023).

Teachers in public schools, and especially in what appears to be an elementary school, shouldn't be political and posting their students on social media/Tik Tok. Furthermore, if a liberal private school wants to subject white students to reverse racism so be it but that doesn't seem to be the purview of a public school funded by the tax money of all the tax payers of the society, and not just liberals.

Yeah, we don't need to be having "slave day" or whatever with elementary school kids. Maybe in high school it would have been halfway defensible on some level but this is not good. And I have no idea what the stunt was with his knocking books out of kids hands, feels like he was attempting some kind of social commentary but that's going to go over the kids heads and he probably just scared the hell out of them.

I don't approve of DeSantis's power plays but if you wonder why he's able to get away with it crap like this is why. I'd imagine it's going on more than we know. The mainstream left needs to get the woke left under control and realize that these kinds of antics just give Republicans cover to be increasingly authoritarian and then actually drives the public in that direction too.

The dorms thing I agree is bad.

I do want to clear up possible misconceptions regarding "the graduations" though. They are not actual graduation ceremonies, but are additional graduation events hosted by cultural organizations, some of which have significant pomp because they want to. All students go attend the regular graduation ceremony. At my school, I didn't attend the AAPI event since I had another graduation commitment, but this is not some huge thing---most folks who do attend just do it to get the cool stolls. (Note how in the videos the students are receiving stolls, not receiving diplomas.) This is similar to service, religious, or professional organizations doing the exact same thing in college.
