Allende won this summer's tournament as a #7 seed:

However, many grumbled as to whether he was actually a communist, and as to whether he should be included.

In this summer's tournament, coming in July, with selection in March, should Allende be allowed to participate?

As I've said before Salvador Allende was not a Communist. He was a socialist and did not share anything in common with any of the other people that were in your little tournament. It would be like putting Al, Pol Pot, Lenin, Tito, and Mao together in a single tournament and labeled them all Communists. I think the people who voted basically decided the answer to "which one of these is not like the other" not "who is your favourite communist".

Nope. Colin pretty much said it all, but I'd go as far as saying that he won precisely because he wasn't a Communist, so the result was that the people's favourite Communist was not a Communist. Hardly encouraging for the Commie-crowd.

No, he shouldn't.

But you should think of adding some PCI figures.

Allende was not a communist. He was a typical Left-Liberal social Democrat, but if we include him (and if so, we should also include Mohammed Mossadegh) I would vote for.
