Democrat Eliot Spitzer won in a smashing landslide in 2006 for governor over sacrificial lamb Republican John Faso, who got no support from George Pataki, Rudy Giuliani and other big name Republicans.

Spitzer won traditionally Republican counties like Putnam, Suffolk, Staten Island, etc.

What would a Republican for Spitzer voter look like?

Pataki had a underwhelming third term and governorship as well. Other than tax cuts and gun control signed by a Republican like him, he did not do much.

His opponents Vallone and McCall were not good candidates, so he won reelection after reelection.
