My grandfathers aunt was either 96 or 98 if I remember right when she died a few years back, and my grandmother on my fathers side is turning 90 in April.

I'll go with the OP definition in terms of birth year, since I've met many centenarians but none born before 1880. I have two ancestors from the 1800's who overlapped my life. My paternal grandfather (1880-1967) died when I was 9. Though I knew him, I don't recall going to his funeral. My paternal grandmother (1885-1975) died my freshman year in college and I remember the funeral and burial.

My great grandfather made it to 99. He was born in 1913. I think I met him when he was in his 90's. Actually reasonably still sharp at that age if quiet (my mum has said he was always a pretty quiet man, though).

I'm not sure if I met them but I'm named after someone who became 100 years old in 2010

I never met my great-great-aunt personally, but she was alive well into my childhood, and I remember my grandma recounting conversations they had had over the phone and stuff. She was born in either 1898 or 1899 and died in I think either 2000 or 2001. She lived to see the entirety of the 20th century, from the death of Queen Victoria and the first controlled flight to the moon landing to the internet.

Also, not me personally, but my dad told me he had a neighbor growing up who was born "right after the end of the Civil War."

In my childhood, the only real "grandparent" figure I had on my dad's side after I was 5 was my great-great aunt, who had raised my grandfather. She was born in 1910, and passed away in 2006.

I had a lot of old neighbors as a little kid. Probably some were born before 1920. Idk specifically though.

Tossup between two, don’t know their exact ages:

First was a family friend, who died when I was a kid, was in his early 90s. Really interesting and genuine guy, who served in the Desert Rats in WW2, as part of a tank crew in Africa, and had met (and been yelled at by) Montgomery himself.

The other was an elderly woman who was our neighbour for her late 80s-early 90s. Lived independently up until the final year or two. She’d seen our town turn from a thriving fishing village to a beleaguered backwater, and back into a recovering tourist spot. Lovely wit, and although flagging, always a pleasure to say hi to.

I could be wrong and may have forgot about somebody but I actually visited my Uncle Joe a few days ago in Florida. He is 93 and in pretty good shape...well, apart from his pancreatic cancer and Parkinson's. But he is mentally still very sharp.

EDIT: I forgot about my late aunt. She was 96 at the time of her death.
