Isn't that merely a question "which generation do you belong to?"

Yes, thus our handful of Gen Xers and Boomers will be the swing vote.

I bet the few Gen Zers who post on the same emo and hardcore communities as me would vote Millennials. They often complain about their own generation too, lol.

Aren’t you a little young to be complaining about “kids these days”?

People younger than me complain about them in my music communities all the time.

I would assume that by one's late 20s or early 30s, "lewronggeneration" statements would be understood as pointless, but I guess not.

More serious: It seems like the centralized focus on generations for temporal cultural differences, a generalization that goes further than the "decades" one, is another indicator of human society innately preferring broad discrete generalizations rather than a continuous model. Another strong example is the fact that step-wise tax brackets, as opposed to a smoother tax function, exist in today's world of automated computation.

Generation Z does some things that annoy me, but I actually have more faith in them with humanity's future right now than under leadership of my generation or any other before them.

In the USA, I prefer the Millenials. In Brazil, I prefer the Gen Z.

Yes, I am saying you, someone of age with a fully developed brain, are basing this whole thread off something completely pointless and using evidence from teenagers who haven't moved past the "lewronggeneration" phase.

Asking between Gen X...no Boomers v. Silents would be more interesting.

I mean Greatest Gen is still the most boss of ALL of them still alive, near or total centenarians that lot, and after WWII at that!

Gen Z are a bunch of bullies with their shaming of millennial traits, such as the whole "millennial pause" thing.

I identify as a Zillennial (a combo of being a Millennial & Gen Z - especially Late Millennial & Early Gen Z).

I literally can not think of a single positive or impactful change Gen Z has made to our culture or society.

Their primary distinguishing characteristics are really short attention spans, faking having a mental illness or being LGBTQ, broccoli hair, and believing literally anything since they seem to have lost the sense of incredulity and skepticism that we millennials honed over our years being raised on the early internet.

'Generations', like political parties and ideologies, seem to be mostly (mis)represented by online loudmouths and caricatures.

Gen Z are a bunch of bullies with their shaming of millennial traits, such as the whole "millennial pause" thing.
They horrify me because of how much the quality of my life would degrade if Gen Z got their way:

-No more mosh pits.
-No music fests that don't include rap.
-Permanent mask mandates everywhere.
-Constantly having to state and specify my pronouns despite having never done this in my life with no issues whatsoever.

A Gen Z dream world would be a f[inks]ing nightmare.

I'm not even sure if you're trolling or serious anymore.

IMAGINE someone talking this way about black people.

all hell would break loose.

The incessant whining and over-the-top hyperbole from (certain) Millennials in this thread speaks for itself really.

If you're a younger Millennial, there isn't that much of a difference between you and (older) Zoomers.

If you're an older Millennial, then it is beyond pathetic to be emotionally invested in Generation WarsTM with kids who are, at the absolute oldest, less than three years out of college.

On the one hand I think the idea of discretely definable generations is a load of bull. On the other hand, I think the differences between those born in, say, the mid 90s, who only began using the internet and social media in a big way in their early to mid teens, and those born in 2000 and beyond who have literally been using the stuff since they were 5-7 years old is worth exploring. I've certainly noticed that people born post-2000 are rather attitudinally different to us lot born earlier (I was born in 1995). If was being charitable I'd call them insouciant; if I was being uncharitable I'd call them feral (a generalisation I know but you can't really go through life without the odd generalisation).
