Currently, the U.S. State Department prohibits Americans from entering North Korea, with few exceptions. Should Biden lift this prohibition? I think he should.

No, don't think it would be a good idea. Maybe the travel ban is not ethical, but it is one for your own safety.

There is no prohibition on Americans going to North Korea, there is a prohibition on using a US passport to enter North Korea - big difference. Americans are free to travel to North Korea on a non-US passport.

It's not even necessarily a safety issue - technically speaking, North Korea is a very "safe" country for a tourist. Passports are government property, and the State Department has made the determination that individuals going to North Korea for tourism presents an unacceptable threat to the US government.

I'm inclined to err on the side of the government on this one - I normally don't favor anything that infringes travel freedoms, but visiting North Korea is basically visiting Stalinist Disneyland.

Nah, it's too dangerous. We don't need to get Kim any leverage on a silver platter.

This. North Korea would just start capturing Americans en masse and then hold them for ransom/leverage.

I don't know why so many people are voting yes in the poll. The ban is 100% neccessary.

Thousands of American tourists visited North Korea pre-ban, and you can count on one hand the number of non-ethnic Koreans who were detained or imprisoned after entering the country legally.

North Korean chicks are hot.

Which was immediately evident ever since I watched The Interview, aka the funniest movie of all time.

There shouldn't be any restrictions on travel. However establishing diplomatic ties and trade is a different story.

Correct. I never said facts were something Republicans cared about.

Nah, more into Cubans. That country I think should have normalized relations.

What happened there was extremely rare and not worth denying literally everyone else the ability to visit there.

But what value is gained from visiting North Korea? As someone else said, it's Stalinist Disneyland.

I don’t know, what’s gained from visiting a place like Honduras? Not to mention North Korea is one of the most unique places to ever exist, and I see why someone would want to experience it firsthand.

Even a single incident can have immense repercussions, look at Brittney Griner.

Brittaney Griner’s punishment was BS but that doesn’t mean she didn’t break Russian law, therefore putting her at the whim of the justice system. I mean, Americans are at far higher risk of kidnapping in countries like Syria, Yemen, hell, even Honduras is more dangerous than NK. Doesn’t mean you have to ban people from going there.

Honduras has Mayan ruins(Copan) and pretty beaches. Also, Honduras has MUCH more going for it than North Korea.

Mexico also has pretty beaches and Mayan ruins, while North Korea is a country like no other. Honduras is also much more dangerous thank NK. Walk around Pyongyang vs. Tegucigalpa, and tell me where you feel more safe.

I do not feel comfortable bowing down to a Kim statue. I just don't.

Probably lean Yes, but it's not exactly a big issue either way.
