This adjusts the list of foreign countries we are prohibited from selling weapons to.

Proposed amendment

...

I disagree with those.

North Korea in the game does not really exist (that's a 1).
Ukraine should not be included for obvious reasons.
Cuba should also not be included, and if so than expand the list to a 100 nations and don't exclude nations like Egypt etc.
Brunei is just lol, it's like saying you don't want to sell weapons to the Vatican or Monaco.
And I need an argumentation for Mauritania too.

With the others I can agree, Myanmar and Zimbabwe of course the most questionable out of the ones i didn't alter. Azerbaijan i kept given their recent military conflict history and threatening attitude towards Armenia.

My amendment would remove 3 nations: Brunei and the already proposed Central African Republic and Egypt while only adding Russia.

So Im going to object for the following reasons:

1. The Ukrainian military is run by actual Nazis.

ATLASIAN PUBLIC ACTS

Russia-Ukraine Stalemate Continues, Zelensky Commissar Order Quietly Repealed.
By NewYorkExpress

As the military conflict between Russia and Ukraine stretches into what looks like a stalemate, causing some observers, such as retired Atlasian diplomat and Ukraine expert Marie Yovanovitch to opine that the situation, which continues to see a stalemated conflict zone of troops fighting near Sumy, and near Dinipro, as well as a third hot zone as part of a Ukrainian offensive towards Crimea, is comparable to the Korean War between North Korea and China and the former United States and South Korea between 1950 and 1953, which technically hasn’t ended, and is only will have considered to end once both countries ratify the Panmunjom framework. That war spent many years bogged down in a stalemate, and Yovanovitch, speaking to CNN’s Christiane Amanpour, stated that this one likely would remain one too, unless NATO got involved, or Atlasia intervened by itself.

One of the most aggressive acts of the war, meanwhile, by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, based on the Nazi’s Commissar orders, requiring the execution of any captured Russian soldiers, was quietly repealed after widespread disobedience from Ukrainian soldiers, and threats to bring Zelensky before the International Criminal Court on War Crimes charges.

A UN resolution, proposed by the United Kingdom, to institute sanctions against both Ukraine and Russia is awaiting a vote, but it is expected to be vetoed by Russia, and possibly China.

2. Mauritania is the biggest remaining slaver country.

3. While North Korea is currently at peace, I do not see  flooding them with weapons a good solution for peace.

4. Cuba is still a repressive dictatorship. Id be down to add more to the list but I dont see that as a reason to sell weapons to Cuba.

5. Brunei I also dont know much about and assume it was on the list because it was on the previous list. I will not object to that deletion.

I will open up the amendment vote in a few.

I urge everyone to vote against the general amendment. I have heard no motivation of why exactly those countries are changed. There is no reason for this amendment. If you want to amend it, there needs to be a general idea behind it, and the list of countries shall either be expanded or decrease depending on the definition of countries that shall be add it.

Now it feels like "i don't like this country so i'll add it" kind of act. Horrible foreign policy if you ask me, in particular because there is no plan behind it. There needs to be a standard that defines why (and when) a country needs to be added to this list.

There is no incentive to add Cuba to the list, esp. compared to 3 years ago. There's the Ukrainian-Russian war.. And North Korea is a democracy in the game.

With Ukraine we are kind of tied hands wise as a result of the GM events.

I am open to more discussion on North Korea though.

Is there any specific reason to ban North Korea from purchasing weapons that can't be applied to other countries, or the world in general?

In that case should we also ban arms sales to South Korea?

Possibly. Would that violate any treaties?

It's that kind of "possibly, maybe" that I dislike about this act. The countries chosen feel so selective and there's no good reasoning behind it.

OR you expand the list thoroughfully and include everyone who should be included
OR you keep it to the essential countries, and frankly Cuba/NK (in game)/Ukraine all aren't part of that.
