RETCON NPC ELECTIONS ACT 2: LET'S TRY THIS AGAIN

An act to ratify recommended changes from the GM Department under the RETCON Again Act relating to NPC Elections.

(a)As per the terms of the RETCON Again Act:

(1)All stories relating to NPC elected officials, and NPC elections past the date of January June 1, 2022 are hereby declared non-canon.

(2)All Federal legislation authorizing said elections are hereby repealed.

(b)This act shall take effect immediately and apply retroactively pursuant to law.

Im sure the sponsor can elaborate better and provide the request of the GM Office, but this spares the GMs a lawsuit by undoing a single round of stories that accidentally created a nullification crisis with NPC governmemts that werent actually in place at the time of the story.

I'll vote for this. It would make sense to retcon away NPC government events that have taken place after the last term expired and players haven't had the opportunity to really influence events within this realm once the NPC elections were suspended.

Ive never seen them conducted since its been close to 2 years since they were conducted and I was out of the game. In the regional enactment laws terms were set at 6 months and its been 2 years with no NPC elections so based in the law the seats were vacant but the GMs mistakenly in like 1 story used the numbers from 2 years ago. So this proposal just rights the ship. The south at the GMs request repealed its enabling law agreeing to NPC elections so this bill just ends South Carolinas nullification crisis since the legislators who allegedly did it hadnt been in office for a year snd a half. It basically just fixes a storyline error.

I cannot claim foresight, because it was patently obvious to all involved that NPC system was on borrowed time from the moment of its inception and thus the desire was to make the most of it while we had it. I also think the pandemic being as it was, gave people more time to participate in such and thus it would not have worked in any other period to the extend that it did in 2020. I wish there was a way to make it work as I urged people to consider the long term viability post Lumine, but more generally as well, but its scope and the massive mechanics involved made such unlikely.

One thing I don't think anyone properly considered at the time was how the exit would play out and thus we should not be surprised that problems came about in this manner. While I understand the concerns about retconning too much, I would contend the exigencies of this situation, make such a reasonable action in this situation.
