THE PARENTAL LIBERTY ACT

Section I — Title

This resolution may be cited as the Parental Liberty Act.

Section II — Parental Liberty in Lincoln

1. No state or locality in Lincoln shall pursue legal action against parents or legal guardians for the unsupervised presence of their minor children in public or private establishments, unless a department of Child Protective Services can prove direct harm or knowledge of harm; nor shall the allowance of unsupervised presence be a factor in child custody cases without proof of harm.

2. This act shall take effect immediately.

This bill allows for parents to give their kids the liberty to leave home unattended if they desire. Atlasia has an epidemic of unhealthy 'helicopter parenting,' which can often harm a child's development and well-being, and the last thing we need is for helicopter parents to be able to force their overbearing style of parenting onto others. If passed, this act would not prevent parents from being charged in cases of genuine child neglect.

Credit to Scott and the Frémont Parliament for the 'Lone Wolves and Night Owls Act,' which this bill is essentially a Lincolnite version of.
