Whats preventing the court from striking down this law?
It's a basic law, i.e., a constitutional norm. There is a jurisprudential problem with judicial review of the constitution, and although the SC ruled 2 years ago that it has, de jure, the authority to strike down constitutional amendment that go against the secondary constituent authority granted to the Knesset, this step is rather radical.
As I see it, the SC will strike it down as this is precisely the type of norm-making that is considered unconstitutional constitutional amendment. However, the Knesset will refuse to accept it and the justices would have to collectively resign.
