Lol you realise you can't objectively measure "racism" anywhere, right? It's impossible to gauge everyone's attitudes on race, and of course the definition of "racism" itself is very subjective.

And "racists," including complete white supremacists and neo-Nazis, are spread out and are present everywhere, even in places like Hawaii and Vermont and Maine. As are plenty of "anti-racist" people.

This entire thread just serves to dunk on certain areas of the country, while perhaps not recognising that there are racists in every place.

I'll bite, its Iowa. If you look at its history Iowa has always been ahead of the curve when it comes to progress Iowa has been ahead of the rest of the nation in a lot of progress. Iowa gave women the right to own property and attend law school. They also legalized interracial marriage, and desegregated schools in the mid 1800s. Iowa is also the only one on this list that is clearly in Yankee land.

Those are all historic markers of progress, and don't necessarily reflect much at all about the current racial attitudes of Iowans (even back when these things were passed, to state the obvious, plenty of Iowans opposed them, and it's quite possible that levels of popular support for this kind of thing were higher in other states). Attitudes may well have changed since then, and other places may have gotten "less racist" attitudes faster than IA.

If the question is, "Which state is HISTORICALLY least racist?", which is a fair question, then you make a strong case for IA (and I think I'd vote for IA as well). But assuming it's asking "Which state is CURRENTLY least racist?", that's subjective and impossible to figure out (and laws passed a century back or fifty years back or even just twenty years back don't mean anything at all).

In the present day, Texas.  Unlike every other state on this list, it's now dominated by extremely diverse metros that would have absolutely no appeal to someone who is only comfortable around their own ethnic group.

Agreed, with a gap between 2 and 3. Lol at the ppl who voted for MS.

TN would have been considered 15 years ago, as in 2006 almost elected a black Dem for Senate against a relatively moderate (for a Southern Republican), but has moved far to the right.

How can lines on a map/arbitrary geographical areas be “racist?” States don’t have thoughts or feelings.

Texas. Anyone saying Iowa clearly doesn’t understand Midwestern racism is different from southern racism.
