Good decision.  I am glad common sense prevailed:

Japan reverses nuclear energy phase-out policy amid global fuel shortages, climate change

Two things you should not build on top of an actively tectonic rift margin:

1. 380 mph Maglev Bullet trains;
2. Nuclear Power Plants.

Japan - world leader in both fields.

The Russia-Ukraine war was the best thing to happen to the Japanese nuclear power industry in the 21st century to date.

It does feel as if globally, the tide has finally turned on nuclear energy. With this and news of Germany becoming more open to the source, it’s clear that the trauma of Chernobyl and Three Mile Island has simmered down, not sure whether this is a genuine shift in attitudes on the individual level or just demographic change (with younger generations being more inclined to support nuclear) but either way it is an encouraging development.

Perhaps just keep any new plants away from the Pacific coast next time? Smiley

     That Three Mile Island, a resounding success in terms of disaster management that resulted in almost no environmental contamination, engendered any trauma at all is truly facepalm-worthy. Fortunately Japan has more sense than that.
