Montana definitely jumps out to me as one of those places. From everything I know, I think a lot of people (even in more rural areas) just aren't that religious so they aren't so anti-abortion, and genuinely don't care about things like people being LGBT. They just want the gubmint to leave them alone, lol.

Most of the Midwest. A lot of Republican voters in central Indiana are socially moderate.

Alaska really should be a poll option.

Most, if not all, states are. The recent abortion referendums show how there is a very large contingent across the country that votes Republican despite being pro-choice.

Florida: Maybe things have changed during the DeSantis era but they voted for an African-American president and it's a fairly liberal state on immigration. While it's more of a Rust Belty state in terms of social issues overall, it's definitely more liberal than one would think considering it voted for a culture justice warrior by 20 points.

Kansas: An abortion ban that fails by nearly 20 points is impressive for a state that voted for Trump by a similar margin.

Montana: Voted for an abortion till birth referendum at the same time it voted for GOP house candidates but it has a more libertarian streak that may explain that.

A shocking number to me. Although it should be noted that it's not as large as the referendum results might make it look, as their being on the ballot probably raised pro-choice turnout. Kansas demonstrates this most clearly.

Most if not all of them, but the ones that stand out the most I think are Alaska, Wyoming, Oklahoma and the Dakotas.

Utah, despite being overwhelming Republican and overwhelmingly religious, has, and has continued to, elect very moderate republicans especially for things such as immigration, trans rights, and just general belief in democracy. It’s nothing like it’s neighbors Wyoming or Idaho

Def Texas, even though it's part of the South and has a big religious factor.

The reason why I say this is because in TX, non-voters are disproportionately younger, disproportionately people of color, and disproportionately live in urban centers.

Agree for all 3. Florida feels like a state that largely leans liberal on many issues but votes R for cultural reasons, a particularly competent state R party, a particularly incompetent state D party, and turnout dynamics being favorable to Rs.

"Socially right but culturally left", as opposed to
