I would vote for Peebs and she would win.

She is much more closely aligned to the median Democrat than Abdullah is to the median Republican (he's not even a Republican, but he's the Republican substitute here since he's clearly to the right of Peebs), plus I think there would be far fewer Democrats who would categorically refuse to vote for a trans person, compared to the number of Republicans who would categorically refuse to vote for a Muslim.

I'd vote for Abdullah (AAPI, Leipist, and Indie representation FTW) but am extremely confident Peebs would win among Leipverse members. That being said- I don't know who'd win among the overall voting population, since I have no idea how non-Leipverse Republicans (or Dems/Indies over 35) would break, so I'm not voting in the poll.

Hard choice between these two candidates. I guess I'd vote for Abdullah, because he's very moderate on many issues I care about most, so he's a palatable choice.

Abdullah isn't just a Muslim. He has quite fundamentalist beliefs compared to the average American Muslim.

I think it's possible. Hypothetically a trans candidate that ran in 2020 would've done similarly with LGBT voters than Obama got with Blacks in 2008 and it's not like a significant number of anti-trans voters were going to vote for Biden in the first place. Disdain for Islam seems to be relatively flatlined while trans rights seem to be disproportionately among Evangelicals who are mostly older and most Conservative Blacks would overlook Peeb's sexual orientation or stay home, not helping Abdullah. That is unless some kind of massive trans backlash takes place. Also a trans nominee for governor in Texas outperformed Obama against Romney, getting more than 40% in a state full of Evangelicals.

Believing that marriage is supposed to be unitative bond between a man and a woman is not “queerphobia.” There’s a reason why this was the case for a long time, and it’s not because pretty much every society had a bone to pick with gay people.

Believing that marriage is supposed to be unitative bond between a man and a woman is not “queerphobia.” There’s a reason why this was the case for a long time, and it’s not because pretty much every society had a bone to pick with gay people.

Can you actually name any reason that makes sense in the modern world? Because marriage was a lot of things in the past which it isn't anymore. And yeah, most societies that did "traditional marriage" did have a bone to pick with gay people.

Fergie's Islamophobia aside, Abdullah is completely unpalatable to ~95% of the American electorate for either his social views or his religious views. I would vote for Peebs and she would win pretty easily. I'm pretty sure this is only a close vote because most people on this site are unfamiliar with the depths of Abdullah's radicalism.
