Based.

Quote
The House voted Wednesday for a bust of Thurgood Marshall, the first Black U.S. Supreme Court justice, to replace one of the chief justices who wrote the racist 1857 Dred Scott decision denying Black Americans citizenship.

And yet this current court is still very focused on racist rulings towards African Americans in higher education, criminal justice, voting, reproductive rights, and fair housing. Putting up a bust isn't going to fix that.

Ds we're Dixiecrats thru the 1930s and Rs we're PATRIOT that's why before the Cold War it was red for D and B for R but after Communism it was opposite compassionate Conservative a secularist means progressive

Frederick Vinson was about to issue a declaration of segregated schools before he died of a Heart attacks 5/4 but Warren took his place, I knew Dixiecrats were not progressive but  when I saw that film of Vinson quoting states rights when he was briefed by Lawyer Thurgood Marshall in Brown v Board instead of 13/14/15 Amendments Jefferson said rights not reserved in Constitution is reserved to the states and right to integrate wasn't a protection on the Constitution and we had no Public Defender's until 1963, Chain Gangs until 1955,  I then saw how racist Dixiecrats are they aren't GOP but they were Traditional and compassionate Conservative doesn't mean D but it means Patriot

I would rather have an actual bust of Marshall in the place of each of the six Republican appointees.

Does anyone else think it's odd that they need a law to do something like this?

Is there already a bust or statue of Hugo Black anywhere in the halls of Congress? If he's not already represented, he would be a much more appropriate replacement for Taney.

Given the current Court's hostility to civil rights, this really is just performative. I'm still glad they're doing it, though.

It's not just segregation the long forgotten Chain Gangs 1865/1955 Emmitt Till was killed because he was too young to go to prison but many blk men during his time before Miranda and public Defender's we're either lynched during Dixiecrat Woodrow Wilson yrs or Chain Gangs during the Three Stooges era 1930s

That's why Dixiecrats Vinson quoted Jefferson and said what wasn't in the Bill of Rights and desegregation wasn't in there rights reserved to states because many of his Dixiecrat judges at the state level imprisoned poor Jews and poor blks but he died of a heart attack common during that day not now and Warren was a replacement for Vinson instead of 5/4 Vinson, Reed, Minton, Clark and Burton opposing desegregation it was 9/0 segregation would of continued but eventually it would have been disallowed like Apartheid in Africa

It's just part of the Southern Strategy that remains today that wants DeSantis as Prez not Biden but instead of WV a solid blue states back during Vinson time VA flipped blue and DeSantis has to win VA and Tim Kaine not Youngkin is up in.  24, since the other states aren't gonna flip but he is showing weakness in FL he is only up six and he won by 20 MI, WI, PA plus FL gives us 276 without VA and it's the first swing state up we always have to look at it

Lol this is a Centrist Crt, Voting rights hasn't been passed because of Filibuster guess whom disallowed Trump 20 lawsuit to install him as Prez ACB she is a moderate definitely she isn't a constitutional conservative and she allowed OBAMACARE, Trump has no chance at freedom if his convicted is Appealed to SCOTUS because of her, why because she has a Haitian child, the only way he gets free if convicted it's a DeSantis Prez and he has to win VA but Kaine is up in 24 not Youngkin

This isn't my ideal Crt but Voting Rights, DC Statehood which all are progressive bills hasn't been passed yet to see if she is gonna Strike them down Sandra Day O'Connor was very much like ACB until her latter yrs she wasnt liberal at FIRST

On her vote alone she could of installed Trump as Prez 5/4 like OConnor did in Bush v Gore

Good decision.

Thurgood Marshall is a brightspot of Lyndon's legacy.

In most southern states we (regrettably) have “Heritage” Laws, preventing
renaming/removing/changing basically every named public thing without specific allowances from the state legislature.

I would have liked if they had just vandalized the bust with the fake goofy glasses, and beard and mustache. It would have also taught the present Supreme Court some much needed humility.
