Unlike Arizona's other (actual) 'maverick' senator who served not that long ago, John McCain. That man was a genuine moderate and a true hero who you could admire even if you disagreed with him. Sinema is kind of the opposite. And of course, she's an attention seeker and grifter, not truly a pragmatic, moderate problem-solver like John McCain (I'd say even Joe Manchin's moderate behaviour is a.) justified and b.) quite genuine, but I've never bought Sinema's whole 'moderate' act).

Other than Republicans, her brand of politics is one of the most loathsome.

Beyond the nauseating "can't we all just get along?" centrism, it's abundantly clear that all she cares about is herself and staying relevant in the news. Unlike with Sanders and King, who are D-caucusing independents purely for branding purposes, with Sinema it's obvious that her decision to switch to an independent is to avoid a primary challenge, and force Arizona Democrats to either back her or run someone else and risk dividing the vote. She's holding the people who supported her hostage. It's sickening.

She is a very singular person - she is not just an attention-seeker, she clearly believes in an enigmatic internal logic that brings her to do a lot of things that make no sense to anyone else (possibly influenced by bribes). I can't stand her, but her career arc is incredibly hilarious.
