Impact had it Gov Brad Presley why because he is cuz of Late Elvis Presley that's why he is gonna win in part due to Elvis Presley

I think its going to close but the partisan lean of the state and extreme polarization will put Reeves over the top.

Fundamentally, what distinguishes Presley from Hood?  As a longtime incumbent, did Hood come off as "too establishment"?  I also see some comments upthread that Hood's sincerity as a social conservative was in doubt?

Hood was a trial lawyer.  Although he had a reputation as a consumer advocate, he was also always perceived as a bit too litigious.  Pressley is much more friendly with business interests, especially the utilities.

It's gonna be within 5 pts Reeves only won by 5 last time lol that's one poll that has Reeves up 11 and it's still 90 days til vote the other one has it tied, users take one poll just because it's R just like WSJ Trump is only up 1 and thinks it's the end all be all, I haven't changed my user PRED because while Trump gives tax cuts we got poorer since they stopped stimulus he and Oprah and Bloomberg got richer

Brandon Presley raised almost 6 million $ in the third quarter, a record for a MS Democrat:

https://desotocountynews.com/meet-the-candidates/presley-raises-5-6-million-in-third-quarter-breaks-fundraising-record/

I'm not sure he can win, but maybe it's gonna be closer than the polls say ...

Was coming in here to post this; here all this time I was thinking MS-GOV was gonna be another LA-GOV because of near zero investment from Dems, but given Presley's solid fundraising and DGA dropping $3.5M in the race, I wonder if this could be closer than we think.

Interesting article on Presley's outreach to black voters, especially in light of the LA-GOV situation. Did Hood put this much effort into reaching black voters?

Hood didn't. He didn't even seek Congressman Thompson's endorsement while Presley was endorsed by him not long after he entered the Governor's race in January.

Expect another very low turnout race.. Pressley, of course, will not lose by 25+ as in Louisiana, but - will not get Hood percentage either. And state legislative races will be very boring. But, unlike Louisiana, far-right wing of Republican party mostly lost in primary, so - next Mississippi legislature will be Republican-dominated, but - slightly more "normal", then in Louisiana

Friendly reminder that the clowns at Cook never moved NJ out of Safe D in 2021. That honestly caused me to think so much less of them, especially given how generous they usually are in terms of putting races on the board.

That said, I do think this change is justified.

Reeves isn't losing. The margin will be the only interesting aspect of this election. A loss closer than 2019 would be pretty close to a moral victory.

To be fair, Murphy was consistently getting 51% in the polls, he just never exceeded it, certainly not in the actual election when undecideds skewed heavily for Ciatarelli.

Reeves does give Jon Corzine vibes. Sadly no third party candidate to skim off some iffy republican support.

MS has a runoff law, so a 3rd party would just send a close race into December.

Re: "Anonymous Republican operatives"

Probably a tactic to get the RGA to spend some money.
