Remember that HRC was actually leading with African Americans in 2007 and even into 2008, which drove some Obama advisers crazy. Some of that was hesitancy that a black man could win the presidency. It was not until Obama's victory in IA, which was 90% white, that many black voters were convinced he would indeed be electable nationwide.

I know of a couple.  Both were older Black women (50s-60s) who lived in Mississippi.

Strategic voter who thought that America was too racist to elect a Black person. IIRC this was actually a pretty common worry of Black voters until the Iowa caucus.

Didn't she regularly win like 1/4th to 1/3rd of the black vote in many states? I remember being surprised at how well her numbers held up when i was digging through exit polls from 2008 a few years ago
