It's November 2022, 3 years from now will be the 2025 NYC elections. Incumbent Democratic Mayor Eric Adams will probably run for a second term, and his allies are warning white progressives not to criticize Adams or else they will be seen as racist, as those white Democrats who criticized David Dinkins from 1990-93.

I don't see a Republican-allied candidate winning NYC anytime soon, so Adams will probably get center-right Democrat and leftwing Democrat primary challenges...

Who do you see running?

Alexandria Ocasio Cortez? Jumaane Williams?

Are these numbers still accurate?

But seriously, who do you see challenging Adams? AOC?

Seriously? Idk. Adams rhetoric (blaming progressives for midterm losses), and skill for corporate fundraising suggests he’ll pick up some left-wing challenger, but can’t see AOC running. Presume she’ll just endorse a Maya Wiley-type. Couldn’t give you an exact name - but someone in that mould, I imagine.

Do you see any NYC Republican being competitive?

It sounds like Adams is the Republican

Just like how there were Giuliani Democrats, there are Adams Republicans (Eric Ulrich, etc.) Curtis Sliwa was too much of a joke that a lot of Republicans crossed lines to vote for Adams

Adams is a moderate, tough on crime black Democrat. So was David Dinkins, but he was portrayed as soft on crime. When Dinkins picked Ray Kelly out of all people as his NYPD commissioner......

Adams doesn't want to be Dinkined
