Treaty of Ottawa

On April, 14th, 1914, the Final Draft of the British-American Friendship Treaty of 1914 was ratified by the Senate by a 2/3rds majority. This Treaty among other things required the US and Britain to come to each other's aid in case of an international crisis.

This was passed because noone could foresee a crisis for quite a while. Just 3 months later, Europe erupted into War.

WW1 abroad(1914):

While Congress was organizing into both Pro and Anti War coalitions, a small American Expeditionary Force was sent out.

While Serbia and Austria-Hungary quickly devolved into stalemate, other fronts were still somewhat active. Russia briefly did an offensive, that would end up being their only offensive gains in the entire war. By 1915, they had been pushed out of Poland.

On the Western Front, after Belgium and Luxembourg were easily gained by German troops, Germany's offensive stalled out well into France. A Three year long Stalemate had begun.

By the end of they year, over 2 million people worldwide had died due to the war. Around a Third of the American Force had been killed, another Sixth were severely wounded.

WW1 Domestically(1914):

While an anti-Espionage Act was passed with all Pro-War and a Decent Chunk of Anti-War Congress voting for it, Most other War Restrictions could not pass through Congress. Anti-War Protests sprung up in Nearly Every Large American City outside of New England and the Deep South.

While Roosevelt tried to quell the Protests, a record number of candidates ran for Public Office on Anti-War Platforms. Some of them would become very prominent during the next few decades.

Some Racist Democrat who doesn't want to be on the side of well I'll phrase it this way "Using Black People to fight". The Actual Statement would get me banned or infracted if I were to say it.
