Immigration wasn't an issue that hurt Republicans, let alone one that hurt them "the most".

Strident policies to combat illegal immigration are not the reason why Republicans lost the midterms...

Only 10% of voters claimed immigration as the most important issue in the midterms, and of those voters, 73% voted Republican.

Immigrants are coming here to live and work, not make war. Treating people who are basically peaceful as combatants is inherently racist and fascistic.

Every time someone with no understanding of history cites the fall of Rome during a political debate, a puppy dies.

I think this issue is actually more of a losing one for Democrats as opposed to Republicans. As unfair as it is towards many people from Latin America, that seek a better life for themselves and their children, often fleeing violence, crime and extreme poverty.

Immigration wasn't a big issue for either side this year. And most who did list it as their most important were conservative.

Just secede already and get it over with. I'd be in full support of building a wall around the entire Texas border if that's what they want

I think Abbott needs to pass a bill specificially authorizing this, if not it's unconstitutional!

"Unconstitutional" has become a word that carries to meaning at this point

Kind of ironic for a state whose sole reason for existence was white Anglo mass illegal immigration into what was then the department of Tejas y Coahuila, then a racist revolt against the Mexican government because they were going to enforce their slavery ban and Catholic religious conversion and Spanish fluency requirements, proceeded to kick out all the Tejanos and deport them across the Nueces River, and then rebelled *again* against the federal government during their support for the 1861 slavers’ revolt.

Pretty sure this isn’t about border security, or any legitimate concern about immigration. This is just Abbott pandering to the racists infesting his state. What was that about us being a “nation of laws?” Or are they closeted Maoists who believe political power only ever originates from the muzzle of a gun?

Rs are likely to include the Border wall in the Debt Ceiling anyways I don't know why users on this site don't want to protect the border what did Obama do to get the Debt Ceiling passed as well with Speaker Boehner he compromised on the Debt CEILING

The Rs don't have the votes on impeachment but they have the votes to include the Border wall and WVA pipeline to hold up the Debt Ceiling on 3/2023, Debt Ceiling has to be bipartisan, it has to have 60 votes in Senate

Beto lost due to not protecting border he campaign on Uvade and it still didn't work

I'm doubting it's the same there and in other border towns now as it was way back when.

So who exactly is going to be picking the fruit and working for dirt cheap on the farms? If Abbott could "solve" this problem 100% (which he cannot), he would have some sort of plan on how to make Texas function properly moving forward... right?
