Endorsed. One of my favorite House Dems.

Schiff or Porter would be ideal.  Ro Khanna is a scumbag with no principles.  Someone who started off explicitly pitching themselves as a neo-liberal, corporatist alternative to more progressive Democrats simply can’t be trusted.  He’s about as trustworthy as Sinema.

Nobody with ties to Silicon Valley should step foot in the US Senate.

Having worked for a number of politicians, it's basically 50/50 whether you're going to get an empathetic response or one like Porter's.

I hope Schiff wins.

I'm trying to figure out why Adam Schiff, turning 64 y.o. in 2024, is going to run for the Senate after he's served 24 years in the House. Does he plan to only serve two terms in the Senate if he wins? Three terms, max?

I genuinely thought he was in his late 40s, he looks pretty good for his age.

I didn't realize until recently that Porter endorsed Nina Turner.

I am officially retracting my endorsement for Porter and endorsing Schiff.

A four year old, irrelevant endorsement for a congressional candidate from Cleveland is enough for you to switch? Not that it really matters, but that's a little odd to me.

Nina Turner specifically fundamentally lacks any character whatsoever, and endorsing her is very questionable. Any other race, and it wouldn't matter. Turner was uniquely bad.

Khanna looks like he'll announce he's running today.

Honestly, though there's no way Newsom will do it, Nancy Pelosi being a Senator for a year would be an excellent capstone to her career.

Pelosi definitely deserves the honor, but I honestly think she's more useful in the House as the de facto Minority Whip.

Newsom has previously indicated he’ll name a caretaker who doesn’t run for 2024, right?

If his goal is a placeholder, I don't see how it could be anyone besides Weber.

She's 75, which isn't 90, but I imagine the pressure will be on to nominate someone younger. The trick is then, of course, finding someone young enough that their age isn't a concern, while also being old enough that they aren't tempted to run next year.

Lol I was offline for most of the day and missed this drama.

My only major thoughts are that it was always clear to me that he can't force his appointment to be a caretaker if they don't want to be one, and it would have been wrong of Newsom to appoint a current primary candidate, since they'd gain a literal incumbency advantage.

Is that contradictory? /shrug/

Only 17% reporting, but it's pretty clear that Schiff and Garvey will advance.

7% is just embarrassing for Lee. She better hope she can at least get to double digits before the night is over.

What an embarrassment. Maybe someday my state will stop rewarding the Pelosi/Newsom political machine for its corruption and treachery, but not anytime soon.

Who did you vote for today?

I'm sorry but white men should not be Senators from California.

More than 65% of Californians disagree.
