Do we know for sure that Stabenow is running for re-election?

She'll be 74, which is definitely old, but not old enough that it would be weird for her to run. I would think Dems are better off with an incumbent than an open seat, but Stabenow underperformed in 2018, so we'll see. If she doesn't run, Haley Stevens and Elissa Slotkin are the obvious frontrunners.

John James is the only one I'm really worried about here, and he's far from a sure thing for both the primary and general. Michigan Dems have had a really strong past few years and that's done wonders for their bench at the expense of the Republicans. Lean D for now.

I have to say, I have a lot of trepidation about this. Slotkin defending Manchin and Sinema gives me a lot of pause.

What do you mean? She hasn’t voted like them in the house.

Yeah I don't think there's any risk of Slotkin being anything other than a party-line Democrat. There are candidates I'd prefer, Abdul El-Sayed comes to mind, but Slotkin is fine.

Definitely my favorite candidate as of now, but I'm really not that opposed to Slotkin. She'd almost definitely be stronger in the general election and would be pretty much generic D in the Senate.
