While not necessarily advocating it, this is one country where I wouldn't care if the US just took out the entire leadership, if possible. Since they think they have the right to put hits out on foreign citizens (Salman Rushdie), I think they lose the right to any respect for their own sovereignty.

Sounds like the letter was pretty vague about what exact punishment it was calling for and precisely who that punishment is meant to be directed toward.

Yes Iran is a horrible country but that doesn't mean that

1. Israël should get a free pass on everything it does, simply because Iran is worse. That is not a valid way of reasoning.

2. As long, no other country is invaded or directly attacked, i don't think one has the right to invade a nation or meddle into such affairs. Diplomacy is the only tool we have to deal with those issues.

If we use "military ways to deal with such affairs, we could as well invade half of the world, since a lot of nations, including some of our allies, are against human rights, like Qatar or Saudi Arabia for example. The only difference being that they are western allies and Iran is not.

That being said, I support the protests in Iran.

No one is suggesting we launch a military invasion of Iran to oust the present regime -at least I am not.  I am saying we should be doing more to help the protesters do so themselves in whatever way they say they need.
