Happiest: Queen Marcy winning OH-09 and Mark Kelly (probably) winning in AZ-Sen

Saddest: Tim Ryan losing in OH-Sen so far (if Kent wins in WA-03, then Kent winning)

Happiest: Fetterman winning

Saddest: Ryan losing, mainly because of how well he campaigned and how much of a fraud Vance is

What most upsets me about Ohio's national senate race wasn't that Vance won, is that he won by more than 5 and carried Mahoning and Trumbull counties. I think Mahoning actually swung further right than 2020. The hopes of Delaware County becoming Dem friendly isn't really panning out either. Ryan never had a chance and I don't think any statewide Democrat will again.

Happiest- I guess Florida.  Yesterday morning, I thought I was being kind of ridiculous when I said there was an outside chance DeSantis could flip Palm Beach or Osceola.  He flipped both.  And, equally importantly, this landslide wasn't confined to DeSantis, as Rubio got similar numbers.

Saddest- The abortion referendums is the obvious answer.  Kentucky stings especially badly because I felt like that was one we should have won.  Ironically, that's the one that might not mean anything because it failing doesn't make the Constitution say that there IS a right to abortion in Kentucky.
Kentucky was a shock but with hindsight it made sense. Suburbanites are generally turned off by those type of measures and most WWC voting Reps are likely indifferent at best to the issue, particularly if they're not Catholic or evangelical. It still did strongly statewide despite those two things, I believe the measure won a majority of counties.

Happiest: Fetterman in PA*, Kotek in OR, Prop 122 in Colorado, Lina Hidalgo in Harris County, trifecta in MN.
-- If things portend how I hope they will in the undecided races; Rollins flipping CA-41, Hobbs in AZ, Warnock in GA.

Saddest: Not much really bummed me out. Probably TX overall and how much Dems seemed to have stalled/regressed there.

*I was actively avoiding all Election-related news until I saw his race was projected. For that and my surprise when catching up on the national results at that point, it was easily the happiest result for me.

Happiest governor: Tina Kotek winning in Oregon. But if Katie Hobbs wins, I'll change my answer to that.
Saddest governor: DeSantis landslide.

Happiest Senator: Fetterman. Republicans got so nasty in the last few weeks.
Saddest Senator: Mandela Barnes losing by 1%

Happiest House: Do I have to pick just one? Sharice Davids, I guess.
Saddest House: Either Malinowski losing or Boebert winning by a hair.

Vance is a weak, out of touch politician that could easily put the seat in jeopardy during a very bad midterm year for Republicans. Granted, that still unfortunately provides him with a minimum of 12 years.

Happiest: Pennsylvania, because that set the mood for the rest of the night, which I was expecting to be, at best, a depressing mess that I'd have to exit from early in the night

Saddest (or angriest in this case): Boebert likely wins after being so very close to defeat

Most disappointing: Wisconsin, Dems had a chance given how the governor's race went had they run a better candidate

Happiest: the Georgia results. And watching Trump’s candidates go down in flames.

Saddest: Lauren Boebert and Kobach winning by the smallest of margins.

Saddest: Deep-red Kentucky voters not approving Amendment 2, which would declare no right to abortion in the state's constitution.

Happiest: Pennsylvania, Michigan, KS-Gov, Caraveo. If they win, add Marie Perez, Katie Hobbs, Christy Smith, and CCM.

Saddest: Barnes getting so close but so far. Boebert pulling it out. Kobach. Lori Chavez-DeRemer looking favored. If any of them win, Joe Kent, Kari Lake, Mike Garcia, and Laxalt.

Happiest: Good question! Kotek in Oregon, Fetterman, and possibly Marie Perez in WA. If JMS pulls it out that instantly becomes a contender as well

Saddest: JMS probably losing in OR-05. CO-3 a close second, along with OH-Sen

Happiest: Evers, and the margin by which Whitmer won (I mean, come on, a D+11 result in one of the top swing states in a night expected to be a red wave is far more impressive than Desantis running up the margins in his barely-competitive state). It was a glorious night for Democratic Gubernatorial candidates in the competitive midwest. Voters still know that Democratic governors are advocates for workers, and Republican governors are self-interested.

Saddest: Barnes, knowing that he was much closer to winning than I'd thought. I think it's a remarkable sign for Democrats, though, that Johnson's seat was more competitive this year than any cycle since 2004. It was embarrassing for Johnson to barely cling onto this seat in a year where all the fundamentals favored him. The result shows that Democrats will continue to be strongly competitive in the rust belt. The regions where Democrats are amassing votes have changed, but the urban and suburban trends towards Democrats that we've seen in WI, MN, MI, and PA will keep all of these states within reach of Democrats on the local and national level. This election result proved that the Democratic coalition is stronger than the Republican coalition, even with an unpopular president and unfavorable economic sentiment.

Happiest: Fetterman, Evers, and that so many Republicans who believed that the 2020 election was rigged lost. Fetterman’s win gives me some hope that Democrats might be headed in the right direction again.

Saddest: Barnes coming up just a bit short. Proves this race really was winnable, and Democrats should’ve paid more attention to it (they made the same mistake in 2016, though for the opposite reason.)

Happiest (IL): Workers' Rights Amendment likely passing, IL-13 flipping blue as Nikki Budzinski (D) won, and State Rep. Katie Stuart (D) holding on in IL-HD112.

Saddest (IL): Appointed Sen. Kris Tharp (D) losing to Erica Conway Harriss (R) narrowly in IL-SD56 and Madison County Clerk Debbie Ming-Mendoza (D) losing to election denier Linda Andreas (R) in my neck of the woods. As for IL-SD56, If incumbent Rachelle Aud Crowe (D) didn't resign as a result of her getting appointed to District Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois, Crowe may have held on narrowly.

Both those losses further cemented the redness of the formerly blue Madison County, IL.

Happiest (non-IL): Democrats flipping a Senate seat and likely keeping control of the chamber, abortion rights referendums passing.

Saddest (non-IL): Democrats losing at least 4 US House seats in New York that could prevent them from keeping hold of the chamber.

Happiest: Amendment 2 being rejected in Kentucky, obviously (plus the anti-abortion challenger failing in the Northern Kentucky Supreme Court district). Also a great night for local progressive judicial candidates in Jefferson County. And, most importantly, the Socialist Workers front "Economic Freedom Party" getting exactly 666 straight-party ticket votes in Louisville. Evil

Saddest: Angie Hatton losing her State House seat bc she was an absolute badass. Also one local judicial race which was like the only one where my preferred candidate lost but of course it was also like the only one where I actually knew the candidate smh.

Edit to saddest: Freedom Fighter Alaskan Independence Party patriot Tyler Ivanoff "losing" in HD39 after the Demonrats stole the election by actively DELETING votes cast for him and flooding the race with fraudulent Dem mail-in ballots DAYS after the election.
