It is annoying how many tickets I sold today at my part time. Sold more than double the amount of cigarettes, beer, snacks, and sandwiches.

Not buying extra tickets for this drawing, but I'm part of a small lottery pool with some current and former colleagues that buys a couple of tickets for each drawing.  This has been going for over 10 years and I think the most we ever won was $150.

Here's a fun thought: what if every voter was given a Powerball ticket along with their "I Voted" sticker?  I bet that would juice turnout!

Obviously it's not good to be a regular lottery player, but when a big one comes around, you might as well buy a few lines to play with everyone else.

I know that logically the expected value of winnings actually goes down with these higher jackpots because of the number of players and split winnings, but I'll gladly split it with a couple of those regular players who were playing for the lower jackpots Smiley

I'ver never purchased any sort of lottery unironically, and don't understand gambling or the need to do so.  

Lotteries are taxes for the poors.  And yes, I'm very poor.
