It'll probably end up closer than this on election day, not much closer mind you, but I'd assume Siegel has poor name recognition.

Seems like he's basically governor for life at this point.

Probably, until we find the next miracle worker. Twenty years ago it was Jim Douglas, the last several years it has been Phil Scott.

Scott is outperforming Welch, as I had predicted. He has a shot at breaking 70% this time.

Maybe he'll win by a bigger margin than Welch after all.

It's nice to see the one Republican governor I'm rooting for this year trounce his opponent. I hope that Scott wins by the largest margin of any governor this year (I think Mark Gordon in WY might win by more, but other than that, I think Phil Scott has the next highest margin).

He's probably the favorite to succeed Bernie if he goes Angus King and runs as an independent who'll caucus with the Dems, right?

If he did that he'd be hard to beat, but there's no indication he plans to run or defect from the party.

Scott doesn't strike me as being interested in national politics or leaving the Republican party, so a Senate run under those circumstances seems pretty doubtful.
