How would Walker have done in 2022 if he won in 2018? Who would his Dem opponent have been?

The second place Dem in 2018, Mahlon Mitchell? If he is the nominee I think Walker wins a 4th term for sure.

Also, I think he would still get pre-Trump margins in Waukesha and Ozaukee counties for certifying a Biden victory in 2020.

I think partisan fatigue, faced with the prospect of reelecting a Governor to a 4th term, would be enough to keep the race close if Democrats nominate a decent candidate. But if 2022 ends up being a red wave or even a red ripple, that would be enough for Walker to keep his iron grip on power.

Or he could face Melinda Barnes as his opponent and win relatively easily.

Against Mahlon Mitchell, Walker would have won. But against Josh Kaul, I think he would have lost.

With how this midterm went, Democrats would have to nominate a lower tier candidate to give Walker a narrow win. With a good candidate, Democrats win.
