In 2014 Crist picked you could argue the best Running Mate in Annette Taddeo and I think it was one of the reasons the Race was so close alongside Scotts Unpopularity.

However this year seeing the Numbers out of Miami-Dade I have begun to wonder if Crist picking Hernandez-Mats might have an reverse effect?

Has Crist picked the worst Running Mate possible? He banked on running up the score in Miami-Dade by picking the Miami Teachers Union Chief but that's not what we are seeing.

I don't think it would've really made a difference.

Let's be all honest with each other:
Crist runs around Florida and says he is a Uniter but then let's his Running Mate say these "Outlandish Things" towards the current Lt. Governor. And then they wonder why Democrats are not putting up the Numbers in Miami-Dade what they need to in the EV.

And this has been going on for MONTHS. If you're Hispanic or Black and you vote Republican you have been labelled as Racist.

C'mon, give me a break!

Dems are not turning out because Crist’s running mate said mean things about her opponent? Dang, I thought it was supposed to be because DeManTits is such an amazing governor or whatever republicans are slobbering up these days.

Picking the head of the state's teacher unions in Florida is really dumb. Even in Illinois it would hurt a little bit in the suburbs. It's not Vermont.

No running mate would have turned Charlie Crist into the Chad in this race. DeSantis is going to do extraordinarily well with Clinton 1996 single women & soccer moms in the all-important I-4 corridor, folks. DeSantis +11, called at poll closing time.

Do you mean too good or too bad coverage? They're going to lose by a large margin across the board.

Obviously, yes, but Feen Graham declined for a reason she didn't want to go against DeSantis that's why she is Cabinet

The Florida Democratic Party has many problems too numerous to discuss in a single thread.

But they really need to do a better job of recruiting and elevating Hispanic candidates within the party, particularly from Cuban and South American immigrant communities.

All of their major candidates are always some flavor of White (European, Lebanese, Jewish) or African-American. Sticking a Latina in the Lt Gov slot as an afterthought doesn't cut it. Particularly since Karla Hernandez-Mats doesn't really seem to have a lot of credibility in Florida's Hispanic communities and seems to be primarily an organized labor/public employees candidate.

Crist should have picked Mike Fasano,  a Never-Trump Republican from Pasco County, or another GOP party switcher.

Hernandez-Mats was clearly not a good pick, but I think he has to pick an actual Democrat or he risks depressing turnout from the base.

Yup. Will it make a difference? Nah. This race was never competitive since Nov. 7, 2020.

I live in a very high latino population in Florida and it is kinda true, a lot of them are really racist. I hate how identity politics works why can't we just admit the truth ugh

Florida Democrats inability to run any latinos in statewide positions sans the occasional LT Gov Nominee seems like a pretty fatal long-term flaw.

She was not the ideal choice, but Crist was going to be a sacrificial lamb candidate regardless.
