Maloney concedes the race in NY-17

Incredible that this moron evicted Mondaire Jones because he thought NY-17 would be easier than NY-18.

That's the mindset of someone who doesn't have the guts to fight a serious campaign. If he had taken NY-18 he probably would have lost that seat instead.

At this point, is there a chance Democrats hold the House? I guess this would just be too much to ask. But it would be beautiful.

I would bet against it.

Lets be honest, the AOC/NYC wing cost the Dems the House with the NY losses. The stupid bail reform law that never should have been passed totally f*** us over. We had this with just a little more money in these seats too.

Good news is the balance of power will be with the moderate Rs from LI, Hudson Valley, Central Jersey and suburban Philly. Don't expect the ridiculous antics with them. Good luck Kevin!

It's still possible, but the majority is going to be incredible slim no matter who ends up winning.

Ugh, I really dunno why NY screwed that much. It's a blue states after all and the national environment isn't that bad. Something went wrong there and Dems need to get to the bottom of it.

I was fantasizing yesterday about running a flashy campaign against a controversial but safe Republican somewhere and getting a ton of rubes to send me money and then embezzling a lil.

The obvious answer is Cuomo. I couldn't tell you why Hochul is unpopular though

I genuinely didn’t realise just how much Shapiro won by till this morning.
Time for some more statistics:

PA GOV 22 56/43
18  58/41
14 55/45
10 46/54
06 60/40
02 53/44

Very stable.
So unless the Economy of Pennsylvania crashes, Republicans shouldn't bother running Governors in Pennsylvania until they get a lead in Voter Registration in the State.

Makes you wonder whether Jeffries or McCarthy would have a better shot winning the speaker election. Pelosi won't stand again, I think, even if Dems retain the House.

Unlikely, Cuomo is gone for 15 months. That's a lifetime in politics. Possibly all the Democrats messed up with messaging, especially on the crime issue. And abortion rights were never in danger, even with Zeldin winning. Meanwhile, Schumer has lost a lot of appeal in rural upstate, as many predicted for years.

NYT actually estimates 165K out in Clark and 72K in Washoe. Only about 40k from the rest of the red counties.

You're allowed to pay yourself a salary from your campaign! it wouldn't even be embezzling.

This is my line of thinking - no doubt Maloney would have blown NY-18.

Just lazy ass campaigning from the NYDP. Jacobs needs to be fired into the sun and the party needs to be purged of the rest of the crypto-Republicans.

At this point I would hope we can get exact numbers from the counties.

Seems a bit bullish, but ok. Either majority will be very narrow. That much is certain.

With 95% of the vote counted, Shapiro has won 68.5% of the vote in Allegheny county. That's better than Wolf's 67.4% in 2018, despite winning by a lower margin statewide. The bottom has truly fallen out for the Republicans in the county, and I don't know if they can win statewide if they keep getting obliterated there.

Ironic that he ran an extremely successful house campaign but couldn't keep his own seat.
