NoVA on track for a 2021 redux

I have no idea what will happen in the 10th and 7th at this point. I would say democrats are lucky they do as well in Nova as they do...

Not saying this is actually good news for Dems or anything, but that amounts to <7% of the 2020 vote, so there's still a lot of room for earlys + late voters to make an impact.
Yeah. It'll be a long night.

Was going to ask when the forum would crash but it just did when I tried to login.

Hopefully it stays up all night.

So that was clearly your fault, Rattles.

Very, very grim sign... liberal Twitter accounts now reduced to posting videos of long lines on college campus voting locations.

That is objectively a good sign, though. Like, youth turnout actually favoring us in places is not something to be downplayed.

This is as far as I go. I'm unplugging from election for the night. I tried as long as I could, but I no longer feel that I can go on.

See you on the other side. Purple heart

I probably should just do something else until the polls close, but I can't help myself.

I'm gonna take a break in a little bit to go try on pairs of jeans to see which ones still fit (help) and then throw on a couple episodes of Impractical Jokers while I do a bit of tidying up.

Mental breaks, people.  No matter who you're rooting for tonight.

I'll probably watch an episode or 2 of Gilmore Girls for a mental break later.

I know you're obviously talking about the election, but this sounded a bit more ominous than you intended it to, Eden.

Take care of yourself, please Purple heart

So far, what I can say with reasonable certainty is that, if there's a wave environment, it's going to be extremely inconsistent. The idea that the Midwest may depolarize at the same time the Sun Belt swings back from us is just madness to me. Feels like a sudden whiplash back into 2008.

Given the degree of geographic polarization in recent years, it is not that surprising that the election narrative would play out very differently in different parts of the country. The issues that Democrat vs. Republican partisans emphasize right now are so different that it sounds like they are describing entirely different countries.

Mixed signals, as with every exit poll. Biden's approval rating is higher than you'd expect, for example.

It didn't crash in 2020, so.... I guess Virginia has done a lot of good work to make sure the site won't go down.

That's not terribly shocking.  I'd definitely be one of those dissatisfied customers.  Paying over $4.00/gal, supply chain shortages, everybody angry all the time for really dumb reasons -- the list goes on and on.

Just because the topline turnout is similar doesn’t necessarily mean the results will be the same lol.

I don't think direction of the country polls are very indicative, as it would encompass Rs as well as the Bernie-types who think JB isn't doing enough, and it isn't easy to discern how much is which.

Yeah, it's really just not reasonable to think Democrats can outrun that 45% number by more than a point or two.
