Oral Roberts less than minutes away from locking their spot in the NCAA Tournament, as they are destroying North Dakota State right now in the Summit League final.

Gonzaga also doing the same thing to Saint Mary's in the WCC final.

I would not want to be the 5 or 6 seed who draws Oral Roberts in the opening round.

End of era at Syracuse, Jim Boeheim is retiring.

No need for a search thread from me, the Orange have already named Associate Head Coach Adrian Autry as Boeheim's replacement.

What they really need, is a sweetheart deal like Notre Dame's (Independence for Football, Big East for all other sports), if they want to stay competitive going forward.

Texas A&M-Corpus Christi punches their ticket to the NCAA Tournament, defeating Northwestern State to win the Southland Conference Tournament, 75-71.

Wisconsin less than four minutes away from being knocked out of the field entirely, as they are badly trailing Ohio State in their first game at Big Ten Tournament, which would be a horrible loss for the Badgers.

.

Wisconsin made a good run at the end and got close, but it wasn't quite enough as they lost 65-57.

Nebraska is my least favorite team in the country this year. Instead of playing defense, the Huskers opt to make no plays on the ball and just stand still in hopes of provoking a collision with a player on the other team actually trying to do something, and this tends to work because college officials love calling offensive fouls more than anything in the world.

I don't recall Fred Hoiberg practicing this sort of anti-basketball with his teams at Iowa State, but it's unbearable now. It'll be awful when this team beats Maryland tomorrow.

So on brand for that trash program.

I'll throw in the disclaimer that I know many decent enough people who went to Ole Miss for college, but that hardcore athletic culture there is rotten to the core.

Not as bad as Auburn obviously, but that literally wouldn't be possible I don't think.

Well, you don't have to worry about that anymore. Smiley

Mississippi State tried hard to give it away in both regulation and OT, but hung on for a 69-68 win.  They should be safely in the NCAA tournament now unless a whole bunch of bid thieves materialize.

In one of the least surprising firings of the year, Mark Fox has been fired at Cal.

Best guesses to be the next Head Coach at Cal.

San Francisco Head Coach Chris Gerlufsen
UC San Diego Head Coach Steve Lavin
Nevada Head Coach Steve Alford
Florida Atlantic Head Coach Dusty May
Grand Canyon Head Coach Bryce Drew

North Carolina's bubble pops as they lose to Virginia 68-59.  The Tar Heels will be the first preseason #1 team to miss the NCAA tournament (in the expanded tournament era).

Rough night for bubble teams as Oklahoma State is likely out with a 60-47 loss to Texas.  However, Penn State managed to stay alive with a win over Illinois.

The biggest beneficiary of all of the bubbles popping today is Florida Atlantic University. It would take a loss tomorrow to Western Kentucky AND bid thieves in probably five to six conferences for the Owls to be knocked out now.

FAU is a lock whatever happens in the C-USA Tournament.  Bubble teams should be rooting hard for the Owls.

Late night was better for bubble teams as Arizona State, Utah State, and Clemson all won their games.  Also, I agree that FAU is in at this point no matter what happens in the CUSA tournament.

Joe Lunardi of ESPN has Clemson out, but I'm not sure why.  They beat NC State the other night, whom Lunardi has in the tourney.  And the Tigers have a better record than Pittsburgh, whom Lunardi has as one of the last four in.  So how exactly do they miss?

EDIT: Also, Clemson has a higher seed in their conference tourney than Pittsburgh did.  Scratching my head at this one!

Rick Pitino or Cooley would be great choices.  I think Cooley's happy at Providence, though.

I don't think Clemson is definitely out, or that either of Pitt or NC State is definitely in.  A lot will depend on subsequent bubble games.  ESPN's Bubble Watch (only available if you're an ESPN+ subscriber) has all three teams in the "Work To Do" category.  I suspect that if Clemson beats Virginia, they're in.  But as things stand today, what hurts them relative to the other two teams is bad losses: they have two Quad 3 and two Quad 4 losses.  Pitt has one of each, while NC State has none.
