Who else is rather amused that:

1-O'Malley only won 4 counties + Baltimore
2-He could've still easily won winning only 2 of those counties
3-One of the 4 counties he won voted for Dole

I actually wish he did lose Charles and Howard. It'd be one hell of an awesome slap in the face to the GOP. They can win 21 out of 23 counties and still can't win statewide!

I also like how Cardin didn't get above 45% in any county he lost yet still won by 10 points.

Schumer 2004 didn't do better than 43.34-51.28 in any of the 1 counties he lost and yet he won 71.16-24.24.

Nixon 1972 didn't do better than 45.23-54.20 in any of the 1 states he lost, and yet he won 60.67-37.52.

Maryland's pretty simple actually:  Montgomery, Prince George's and Baltimore City cast 37% of the state's votes and voted 71%-29% for O'Malley-that's awfully tough to recover from.  A Republican's only chance here is to win big in the state's two other heavily populated counties:  Baltimore and Anne Arundel (Annapolis).

Ehrlich did this in 2002, winning Baltimore 61%-38% and Anne Arundel 65%-34%.  In 2006, though, he only won Baltimore 51%-48% and Anne Arundel 57%-42%.
