Well, unlike "abolish the IRS", there are actually some activities of the VA which don't necessarily need to be performed by the government. There will always need to be some part of the government that administers veterans' programs, but delivery of most healthcare could be performed by private providers in a Medicare-style model.

I don't really disagree. And if I'm being honest, the VA Department should probably just be merged with the DoD and the DoD should do more to focus on veterans' affairs, rather than having a whole separate department just for veterans' affairs.
