During his presidency, Ed Donnell:

- Repealed and replaced Obamacare. The American Healthcare Act (also known as Donnellcare) reformed medical malpractice, deregulated insurance markets, created a $40,000 tax credit for healthcare costs, provides healthcare vouchers for those under the poverty line, doubled HSA deductibility, and boosted the bargaining power of small employers with insurers.
- Lowered taxes. The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 lowered income, corporate, and capital gains taxes, while providing a $50,000 tax credit and $45,000 tax deduction for those starting new businesses.
- Reformed education. The Education Reform Act of 2017 increases the number of school vouchers in circulation, makes more schools eligible for vouchers, provides funding for the construction of 500 trade schools, and expands abstinence-based sex ed programs.
- Restricted abortion. In 2018, Ed Donnell signed into law legislation banning abortion after 24 weeks except when the mother's life is at risk, with Partial-birth abortion being outlawed later that year.
- Promoted green energy. The Donnell Administration began the construction of ten nuclear power plants, while expanding the renewable energy tax credit and boosting subsidies to wind and solar energy. The United States remained in the Paris Agreement.
- Renegotiated trade agreements. Donnell signed the USMCA into law in 2019, replacing NAFTA; he also ensured the Trans-Pacific Partnership had significant changes from its initial version (more protection for American manufacturing).
- Scaled back military interventions: Donnell withdrew United States troops from Afghanistan starting in February 2020; he also signed the Treaty of Amman with Iran, with the goal of ending conflict between the two countries. In 2019, most American forces left Syria.
- Took an aggressive stance towards China: The United States declared China a currency manipulator, while continuing to seek regional alliances.
- Opposed lockdowns: During his Administration, Ed Donnell was opposed to lockdown and mask mandate policies, viewing them as unfair violations of Americans' freedoms. However, Donnell always wore a mask when in public.

Joe Biden won the Democratic nomination after coming back from the dead: a tough battle with Bernie Sanders caused him to choose Senator Tammy Baldwin as a running mate.

Biden focused his presidential campaign on economic development, using the slogan "Build Back Better" and promising an infrastructure bill, higher taxes on the wealthy, a public healthcare option paired with adequate funding, protections for preexisting conditions and controls on prices, expanding the earned income and child tax credits, legalizing marijuana, raising the minimum wage to $15 per hour, and free preschool. He attacked Ed Donnell for his healthcare policy, and ran a "front porch" campaign due to the pandemic.

President Donnell focused on the achievements of his first term, while promising criminal justice reform (including the decriminalization of marijuana), a decently sized, targeted infrastructure bill to keep space for private enterprise, adding more teeth into Donnellcare, a federal program of renewable energy development, making his tax cuts permanent, and continuing to oppose lockdowns. Donnell attacked Joe Biden for his friendships with segregationists (particularly James Eastland) and his role in the 1994 crime bill, while focusing on Internet campaigning and TV ads.

Ed Donnell won the first presidential debate, due to Joe Biden being unable to refute Donnell's criticism of Barack Obama's immigration policies; but both candidates performed strongly on the second debate. The vice-presidential debate was won by Tammy Baldwin against her fellow wisconsinite.

On October 3, First Lady Stella Donnell was diagnosed with COVID-19; Joe Biden wished her a speedy recovery, while Ed Donnell temporarily ceased campaigning.

President Donnell sent two rounds of $2,000 stimulus checks.

Joe Biden won the election due to the terrible economy, with Ed Donnell conceding soon after.
