I would prefer to live in a wealthier state with fewer regulations or laws.
What is your ideal state then? Colorado?

More goes into it than that! (I also like cold weather and being close to lots of picturesque hiking places, and given my career path and general interests I like being based in urban areas). So…uh…yeah, I guess Colorado would have to be it. (When I’ve taken quizzes trying to pick which US states are the best fit for me, if I recall correctly I’ve reliably gotten a Top Four of CO/MT/AK/NH, with FL always dead last, which is sort of funny because its politics are a pretty good fit for me).

No. I would not be content to live under a government which commits such an appalling overreach into personal liberties, and I would of course be especially fearful for the women in my life.

Florida has good politics, but I would melt into a puddle if I had to live there. I would also be bored out of my mind. Politics ain't everything.

Yeah, that wouldn't really be a factor in where I would choose to live.

Oh yeah, I completely forgot that weather preferences were our biggest area of disagreement. Tongue

I would, and I do (mostly banned at least). Proud of it

Only asking: what do you think of this incident? Or this one? What do you think of socially conservative Republicans like Neal Collins of South Carolina?

I'll simply refer you to my comments I posted actually on that first thread you linked.

Quote
Pro-abortion lefties: "You can't point to the barbarity of late term-abortions as an argument against abortion because it happens in such a small proportion of cases."

Also Pro-abortion lefties: "Here's every fringe case ever conceived as a cover to support the broad-based 'freedom' to terminate a pregnancy for any reason"

This case is awful and terribly sad. Obviously if death of the infant is inevitable anyway, terminating the life to prevent further suffering would be a just decision. That is wholly different than abortions in the vast majority of other cases, where death of the infant is not an inevitability. It's disingenuous to hide behind cases like this, if you would have also been fine for the infant's death, no matter the reason that the woman had.

That addresses the Louisiana incident - but what about the Ohio-Indiana one? That could’ve been easily avoided if there was some sort of exception, if just for rape/incest, if just only for a limited number of weeks.

As DT said in that case,
Quote
If there's a legal reporting requirement on providers who provide abortion in cases of rape/incest, then it should be enforced.

The situation is beyond depressing, and I'd love to accept those exceptions, but a life is a life is a life, and I have to eat the results of policies that I support.

Honestly, I linked that thread because I couldn't find a thread regarding the original incident - a 10-year-old impregnated as a result of rape, not being allowed to legally get an abortion in her state - so I linked this thread, which was related to the same incident. The whole IN-AG-prosecuting-doctor thing isn't really what I was referring to so much as 10-year-old-pregnant-by-rape-has-to-cross-state-lines-to-get-an-abortion. Which is why I consider these types of blanket bans on abortions, that don't make the absolutely necessary exceptions for rape and incest, to be terrible, and which is why I'm glad that (if I understand correctly) you yourself would prefer to see exceptions made for rape and incest (unless I am misunderstanding you?).

Excellent options:

Anyway, absolutely not. Most of these states are sh**tholes even without their abortion laws.

Actually, since I posted the map, it's changed a bit.  Abortion is now legal again in Indiana, but it's now illegal in Arizona.

I'd be willing to live in one, but I wouldn't actively seek one out or choose to live in one just for that reason.

If you don't care about abortion, you don't care about women.

I already do, and even though I’m unlikely as a queer person to face this difficult question myself… most of my best friends are females who are directly impacted by this terrible decision. Their lives are threatened, they’re all furious and you can bet your ass all my friends are voting. Even the ones who aren’t usually political.

Sad thing is that for many Americans — probably most, picking up and moving isn’t an option. Not without tremendous undue difficulty they shouldn’t have to go through.

Voted no btw, cause I believe the question should be ‘Would you live in a state w/o abortion, if you had a choice.

Most people do have a choice.

I would argue that’s not true. Not without, as I said previously, undue difficulty they shouldn’t have to endure.

It's not exactly relevant to my situation for obvious reasons, but I do sympathize with the women they affect. At the end of the day though, probably, yes, if I had a compelling reason to move to one.

I wouldn’t live anywhere but California, and I’d live in California even if it became a fascist dictatorship.
