The midterms are going to be my first (general) election as an American voter. Here is what I expect to put on my ballot this November. Forumites abroad can pick a location in America and pretend they're voting there, and Americans not of age can play along too.

The Democrats, and names I recognize in nonpartisan races.

EDIT: Big legislative races are Beasley/Adams/Waddell/Autry.

Federal

House (MO-6): Henry Martin (D)
Senate (MO): Trudy Busch Valentine (D)

State (Partisan)

State Auditor: Alan Green (D)
Galloway's departure marks the end of an era in Missouri. I anticipate total R dominance of the state government for at least a decade from now, probably more, unless some freak Roy Moore situation happens.

State Legislature
State Senate (District 34): Sarah Shorter (D) (but seriously, is this the best MDP could do in a potentially competitive district? Especially one that has an ancestrally Democratic city in it? It was even moved left in redistricting. It's ridiculous.)
State House (District 12): Jamie Johnson (D) (I've been drawn into a Biden +5 district Purple heart)

Local Offices (Partisan)
D (2 offices), blank (4 offices, unopposed Rs)

Ballot Questions (We love these in Missouri)
Amendment 1 (weird state treasurer thing): undecided (To be perfectly honest, I'm not confident that I fully understand it. It doesn't seem hugely consequential for the everyday lives of most, but I insist on knowing what I'm voting for. I'll come back and fill this in later).
Constitutional Convention Question: No
Amendment 3 (Marijuana Legalization): Yes
Amendment 4 (It has its own word salad name, I'm going to call it the Let The Legislature Take More Local Control From Kansas City, As If They Haven't Done That Enough Amendment): No
Amendment 5 (gives Missouri National Guard its own executive branch department, rather than being part of the Department of Public Safety): No

Judges

Will report back. Haven't done my research this year yet.

Only House elections here, and I'm in VA-03 which isn't remotely competitive. I probably won't bother this year actually.

Still uncertain on a few but probably something like this. Will update if I change my mind.

Federal
House (MO-5): Emmanuel Cleaver (D) - might vote (R) just to keep the margin down, I like to keep these long-term incumbents humble.
Senate (MO): Trudy Busch Valentine (D) - don't really mind Schmitt and would have voted for him over other Democrats; Busch Valentine was my choice in the primary and will stick with her. I doubt this race gets within single digits, though.

Statewide
State Auditor: Scott Fitzpatrick (R)

State Legislature
State House (District 18): Eric Woods (D) - running unopposed, which surprises me since the area I live seems pretty competitive

Local Offices (Non-Partisan)
Have an idea who I'll vote for based on the primary, but open to changing.

Ballot Questions
Amendment 1 (State Treasurer Investment: Yes
Amendment 3 (Marijuana Legalization): H*** Yes
Amendment 4 (City Police Funding): No, just an attempt from the legislature to take control over KC
Amendment 5 (National Guard): Yes
Constitutional Convention Question: No

IDK what happened to Amendment 2, I don't see it on my sample ballot so guessing it missed the cutoff.

Judges
Typically I vote against retaining all just for chaos unless I read up something good about one. TBD.

Federal
House, MN-5: undecided although I'm not voting Republican and there's no third party candidates on the ballot, so it's either reluctantly vote for Ilhan Omar (D) or write-in.

State (Partisan)
Governor/Lt Gov: Tim Walz/Peggy Flanagan (D)
Secretary of State: Steve Simon (D)
State Auditor: Julie Blaha (D)
Attorney General: Keith Ellison (D)
MN Senate, 62: undecided, same as House, either vote for Omar Fateh (D) who may be going to jail before the term ends or write-in.
MN House, 62A: Aisha Gomez (D)

Municipal (Nonpartisan)
County Sheriff: Dawanna Witt
County Attorney: Mary Moriarty
County Commissioner District 3: Marion Greene
Minneapolis School Board (elect 2): KerryJo Felder Lisa Skjefte

It looks like all judges are unopposed so another round of my amusing write-ins.

Easy, all Democrats. I don't even want to bother listing them. Though I hate that I have to vote for Gottheimer.

On the other hand, I will say that I will have the most pride in voting against the guy running for Mayor in my town. I went to middle school with him and he was a straight-up narcissistic bully. I don't care if he has matured in twenty years, he is a Republican now, so that tells me everything.

The position of Mayor is fairly powerless in my town but I don't want him to have the smug satisfaction of getting to say that he is the Mayor. He is also very ambitious and already tried to run for the Assembly in my district-he lost. But if he becomes Mayor and stays in that position for awhile I could actually see him trying to run for a county position then trying to become Lieutenant Governor or Governor. I have a sick feeling he is going to win too. My town is very swingy at the local level but tends to reflect the national environment, and this will be following twenty years of uninterrupted Democratic control of the Mayorship. He and the other local Republicans seem to be running a better campaign too-they have more yard signs and are sending out mailers almost weekly. Party fatigue may be a thing that allows him to win in a neutralish environment.

Blank.  I'm sitting this out because I don't have the time to switch my driver's license and don't have a gun permit.

And I'm not invested an iota regarding California.

Did your driver's license only expire recently? Because, at least according to this government website, Texas allows you to vote if it's only been expired for less than four years. Don't quote me on this, though. Tongue

US Senate: Bill Redpath (Libertarian; I'm not going to shade this yellow because that's unreadable.)
US House (IL-12): Chip Markel

Gov: J.B. Pritzker
(other state exec. offices: leave blank; I don't care)
State Sen: Terri Bryant (unopposed, but I probably would have voted this way if she did have a Dem opponent)
State Rep: David Friess (unopposed, but I probably would have voted this way if he did have a Dem opponent)

I’ll be voting straight Democrat. There are no compelling GOP candidates, even downballot.

I’ll probably vote against the collective bargaining amendment. I’d rather not tie the state’s hands on dealing with the pension crisis. It’ll pass anyway though.

Federal
House (NH-1): Write-In: Jayson Tatum
Senate: Write-In: Darryl W. Perry

State
Governor: Tom Sherman (D)

State Legislature
Executive Council (NH-3): Katherine Harake (D)
State Senate (NH-23): Barbara Oldak (D)
State House (Not doxing myself that hard): The Democrats (D)

Ballot Questions
Abolition of Register of Probate (2022): Nay
Constitutional Convention (2022): Nay

I'm voting third party because my representatives are in the pockets of their donors. The ballot questions are Free State-supported stuff, which has me skeptical. For state offices I'm straight D across the board since the Dems have dropped the mask crap from the omicron era.

We don't have to disclose whom we are voting for secret ballot and DeJear isn't beating Reynolds Act blue is only concentrating on OH, NC, FL, AZ, WI, PA and GA right now and NH Gov is safe R

Tom Sherman isn't gonna win either that's why, they haven't even polled the race, he was losing 55/29 anyways

You can go on Act blue website and see for yourself what races they are concentrating on, that's why Impact polls are polling OH, FL so much there is an R bias in those states

They are all within 5/6 pts and BLK and Brown and females are the balance of power they will be upsets but not impossible to win

NH and IA Gov they're not even bothering to ask for donations, the best thing to do is target Ernst and Reynolds in 26 but even that's a tall task Collins is really the only vulnerable D in 26 but Rick Scott is vulnerable too in 24 to a Gwen Graham challenge , that's why we gotta win OH, NC, FL and UT in 22

We only have one race on the ballot.  A guaranteed D House seat.  Perhaps in an R Nut map universe my vote will be important but I don't think we are living in that universe.

This is subject to change, as I'm fickle enough that two months could be enough that I change my mind on a race or two, but...

Federal
Senate (regular and special): Alex Padilla
House (CA-36): Write-in, haven't decided who yet

State
Governor: Gavin Newsom
Lt. Governor: Eleni Kounalakis
At. General: Rob Bonta
SoS: Shirley Weber
Treasurer: Write-in, haven't decided who yet
Controller: Malia Cohen
Superintendent of Pub. Instruction: Write-in, haven't decided who yet
Commissioner of Insurance: Write-in, haven't decided who yet
State Supreme Court: Write-in for all four, haven't decided who yet
State Senate: Ben Allen
State Assembly: Write-in, haven't decided who yet
State Board of Equalization: Tony Vazquez

Ballet Measures
Prop 1 (provides a right to abortion in the state constitution): Yes
Prop 26 (legalizes in-person sports betting): Yes
Prop 27 (legalizes online sports betting): Yes
Prop 28 (requires K-12 schools to fund arts and music education): Yes
Prop 29 (dialysis reform... it's practically a CA tradition at this point): Yes
Prop 30 (taxes multimillionaires and uses the funds for zero-emission vehicle subsidies and wildfire prevention): Yes
Prop 31 (bans flavoured tobacco products): No

In AZ I’m voting for every D on the ballot, federal,  state and local (county / city races).

For the judges I’m basically voting no on almost all of them since so many are Ducey appointees.

As for the ballot props, I’m leaning no on all except for yeses for instate tuition for non-citizens, dark money initiative and medical debt initiative. I don’t want to vote for the minor tax increase to bail out the rural firefighters.

I am just happy a blue wave is developing not an R wave so taxes can go up on the wealthy and fund more program, we never had a Filibuster proof Secular Trifecta,1993/95 Rs blocked Obamacare, 2009/11 Rs blocked DC Statehood and 2021(23 Rs blocked Voting Right, just like with English monarchy it's not all you pull yourself by the bootstraps it's called inheritance wealth we the commoners arent gonna get the Rock, unless you win the Lottery or become a rich Doctor, Lawyer or Teacher, but we can get get more a piece of the rock

Beto is only down by 2 that's nothing for Blk and Brown and so is Crist not in the Echelon but in Impact polls .

People don't have to worry about their taxes we already pay property taxes Capital Gains and Inheritance tax will go up over 450K a year
