Another Tory MP (Scott Benton's neighbour in Blackpool North, no less) has been up to no good.

Not just an MP, but a minister.

The Reasonable Moderates are currently trying to dox Keir Starmer's children because one of them might be trans, if you were unaware.

I've also seen this claim made (with as little actual evidence) about the offspring of Mr and Mrs Balls.

Almost as if it is being coordinated or something.

Given that the man is very protective of his family and bears grudges, this seems like a spectacularly ill-advised rabbit hole for them to go down.

Talking about coordination, there appears to be an effort to oust Ed Davey and replace him with his deputy Daisy Cooper.

And I wondered why Liberal Democrat affiliated media where making loud noises for months about the Post Office, it's a way to force Davey's resignation.

Fascinating though the weird conspiracies your mind weaves are, the media making those noises is overwhelmingly Tory-affiliated and motivated primarily by the enjoyment of somebody else being to blame for things.

There has been a fairly half-hearted attempt to drag Starmer into this - though, as is often the case these days, Corbynites seem to be at least as enthusiastic about it as Tories.

I don’t really see how anyone could think this is a winning move to make.

A farce in three parts:

To their credit - they u-turned before there was another attack. I thought it would take a couple of months and a grim set of headlines before they ceded to the inevitable. In the end, it took less than a fortnight.

That's the sort of thing that can happen when you fetishise "difference" for the sake of it.

I found it interesting with Horizon how the lobby and the papers are now basically rushing to find blame for Starmer and Davey who both had a small side role, but by that logic so did nearly every justice minister, every business secretary and every PM since 2000?

It’s just weird to make it a ‘politicians failed to act’ scandal when it has never been that! I was critical that the Government were slow around compensation but never really blamed them- in this case it’s much bigger and much more serious than blaming politicians who are effectively clueless.

Someone loaned Andrew Bridgen 4.4 million quid for legal expenses, per the Register of Interests. Has to be a bit of a story there...

Main funder of Reclaim and also someone who has form over legal issues over company management. Peas in a pod.

A Commons report published in early 2022 found that he had bullied staff while Speaker. It went so far as to say that if he had still been an MP they would have recommended expulsion. No-one has actually been outright expelled since the 1950s, so they really wanted to throw the book at him. He had joined Labour after his retirement, but they swiftly distanced themselves from him.

So now he goes on the reality TV circuit like Neil Hamilton and Matt Hancock, I suppose.

I cannot understand anyone who ever liked the man, much less the foreign fandom--as it is to an extent--surrounding him.

They see him as confirming their caricatures of the British gentleman, when in fact he is an arse.

I seem to remember people respected him for putting up with Parliament through the Brexit process.
